Also great how it's always "Nintendo should do this or that with Pokemon" but now this is suddenly all on Game Freak as if Nintendo has no say in the matter.

Actually I see Nintendo / Pokemon fans complain about GameFreak being lazy and incompetent all the time. Complaints are usually leveled against GameFreak, in the same way complaints about Zelda are directed towards Aonuma, complaints about Smash are directed towards Sakurai, etc.

ok, i did forget about MP, that is a very welcome addition. the challenges were awesome, i agree. but im just saying that i would expect more from a game that hasnt seen a sequel in 15 years. i guess my biggest gripe is the lack of original characters and remade characters from super punch out. (mad clown, dragon chan, masked muscle, hoy quarlow, any of those would have been amazing)

The characters from the NES game are just better. Most of the ones from Super Punch-Out!! arent really that great. They did wonders with Bear Hugger and Aran Ryan, but the others wouldnt really fit in the new one. Mad Clown? Come on now...

i mention mad clown because of how unique he is! yes, mad clown, hoy quarlow, narcis prince! those were all fabulous characters.

Ill give you Narcis Prince. He was from england and its kind of a stereotype. Where was mad clown from? What country is famous for clowns?

mad clown was from italy. hoy quarlow from china. the clown aspect was cool. that is what punchout is all about. they stepped out of the box a little more with the snes version.

Italy is not the country I think of when I see a clown...and if Hoy Quarlow was from china, where was Dragon Chan from...?

dragon chan was from hong kong. mad clown has to be from somewhere? where did clowns originate? i dont know, but maybe nintendo did some research and italy was the birthplace for clowns lol. either way it doesnt matter. italy is a decent place for mad clown to be from.

ok, i do concede the 20m consoles point. what i mean to say is that they dont need to sell, say, 80m every single time to survive. they can survive off a smaller install base than the competition, who really does need to sell 80m+ to consider sticking around. this is made easier by the fact that they make their own software which makes some of the highest sales every generation. but yes, they are affected by the industry more than what my original post implies. however, i believe that if everything crashed, they are the most fit to continue on, and have the highest chance of doing so. it seems most people agree to that.

Their large focus on internal software development and maintaining hardware profits certainly makes them more capable at surviving on a small install base, but i wouldn't say Sony or MS need 80m+ to be comfortable, at least not anymore. Both appear to have learnt their lesson from the last gen.

The PS4 in particular is almost hilariously more financially viable than the PS3 was. Not selling at a huge loss puts it several billion ahead of the PS3 on its own Add in its own success, as well as PS+, and its obvious the PS4 is intended to generate money, not secure a market (blu-ray).

If they maintained their new model (avoid large long term losses and use the install base as a foothold for other services, not simply game royalties), then SCE could probably survive fairly comfortably on a moderate sized install base (with the backing of the primary company for large short term losses such as the $1b+ they'll have needed to manufacture the launch wave of PS4s). I don't have the knowledge to state an actual number, but certainly a lot less than 80+ million.

TL;DR - I agree, but Sony and MS have come a long way in improving the financial viability of their consoles.

I meant this more in regards to this Pokemon MMO that people are constantly asking for.

Yeah, actually I take that back. When I think of a circus, Italy do pop up. Would rather they have the italian guy from the arcade game named Pizza Pasta

Yes, that's what I was thinking of as well. People saying GameFreak won't do it because they are lazy.
