mad clown was from italy. hoy quarlow from china. the clown aspect was cool. that is what punchout is all about. they stepped out of the box a little more with the snes version. 

Italy is not the country I think of when I see a clown...and if Hoy Quarlow was from china, where was Dragon Chan from...?

dragon chan was from hong kong. mad clown has to be from somewhere? where did clowns originate? i dont know, but maybe nintendo did some research and italy was the birthplace for clowns lol. either way it doesnt matter. italy is a decent place for mad clown to be from. 

Yeah, actually I take that back. When I think of a circus, Italy do pop up. Would rather they have the italian guy from the arcade game named Pizza Pasta
