Bug spider like bosses have been done long before Prime 2 and what is so special about Sanctuary Fortress that makes it impossible to be downgraded onto N64?

Some of the areas were pretty big/complex by GCN standards and had quit a few enemies/entities at once.

Ok so slightly smaller area with a few less enemies and lower quality graphics and bam it's an N64 game.

You wouldn't even need less enemies or level design changes to get Tropical Freeze up and running on Wii.

I'll probably be happy with anything Retro puts out. I own (or owned since I sold my GC Metroid Prime games) every game Retro gas ever put out even the rare Metroid Prime Trilogy and I've been happy with all of them. Given that the team is probably only big enough to work on one game at a time and whatever thy put out next will most likely be their last Wii U effort, I think there will be disappointment amongst fans no matter what. If it's Donkey Kong, fans will have wanted a Metroid game. If it's Metroid, fans will have wanted a new IP. If it's a revival of racing franchises like Diddy Kong Racing Racing (as a recent rumors suggested) or F-Zero, fans will be disappointed that Retro's talents are being wasted on mere racing games.

Whatever they do, I know they'll put 100% effort into it and I'll most likely be happy with it. Personally, I don't see the putting out another DKC game for this generation. Given the low sales of Tropical Freeze, I think they'll wait until the next console generation before releasing a new DK game. By then we'll probably see a port of Tropical Freeze on Nintendo's next handheld system.

Hope it is a new Metroid with online to act as a Halo killer.
I would also be happy with a new IP.

Dont want another DK game yet as it is too soon for one.
And if it is Diddy Kong Racing I will be upset.... dont really need another kart game this soon.

The point is either game could have been replicated on the previous console with some downgrades but in both cases, would pretty much be the same game.

I think u should cut them some slack for Tropical Freeze, they specifically said they had unfinished business with DKC and weren't able to implement certain aspects they wanted to with Returns so they made a sequel. It's the same situation with Mario Galaxy/Galaxy 2, they had a ton of ideas but couldn't fit them all in one game so they made a sequel, the only difference is that both Galaxy games released on Wii while the Z donkey Kong games are split on Wii/Wii U.

Also considering the fact it was Retro's first HD game, they probably couldn't push the hardware to its fullest without also pushing the release date back even further.

Don't get me wrong, I love Tropical Freeze, it's my #2 top game of 2014.

It's just that for their next project I want to see something a bit more ambitious.

Ya I know u love the game and aren't dissing it. I just think u should cut them some slack for not going more ambitious, they wanted to make another DKC because they are perfectionists and felt their were some things they could improve upon. That plus developing on a new console and making their first ever HD game meant they couldn't physically make this massively ambitious title u were hoping for.

Going forward I would love to see them do something a bit more ambitious as well, a new Metroid in the style of Prime that really pushes Wii U to its limits and adds some new things to the series would be great or a new ip, perhaps a WRPG like the cancelled Raven Blade game.

Exactly.

Though, I don't think sales for DKCTF should matter. It is nearing a million albeit slowly according to VGChartz, and it is on poor selling system. For Wii U standards, it is successful.  I think a 3D DK or Metroid is in the cards from what they have said about both.

@curl 6

You mean graphically ambitious.

Not just graphically. Games like Metroid Prime were also conceptually and mechanically ambitious.

This.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I think unique would be a more appropriate word than ambitious because it makes it seem like Retro didn't put in any effort into DK.

I understand what you mean, but people toss that word around unnecessarily. If DK didn't have some sort of ambition, it wouldn't be good at all. (Of course, some say it isn't because of opinions which is fine)
