Sony WILL bounce back, I'm sure of it. Besides, the PS portion of the game would more likely be bought by Samsung or MS if the situation would be a reality.
Nintendo buys PlayStation if Sony dies? | |||

Agreed lol. Shame they couldn't work out their differences and work together.
| dyremose said: I certainly would hope not. Sony makes quality hardware whereas nintendo... Well we all know. It would be far better for consumers if nintendo went 3rd party instead. |
Please define quality hardware?
I have gone through several PS consoles due to hardware failures, PS3 dead out of the box. I am still on my launch editions of each Nintendo system.
| OdinHades said: Sure they could! Let's just assume Sony wants to sell PlayStation for some Reason. All Nintendo has to do now is to outbid Apple, Google, Microsoft, Samsung and others! All that massive Money Nintendo has in the Bank? Peanuts for every one of those mentioned companies. So yeah, no. |
While I agree with you, I really don't think Samsung would be interested. They make FAR too much money in handset, RAM/Flash, TVs etc. Consoles are a losing proposition to them. Probably not apple either.
I think it would come down to MS, Google, or Amazon.
| Mike_L said: And why would Nintendo even consider buying Naughty Dog? Their games are just "grey and brown interactive movies with bad gameplay" x{ |
So I guess you have played uncharted? anything but grey and brown. Maybe you need to calibrate your TV better.
To do what? Run it into the ground? The Playstation business model is WAY different than the Nintendo one.
| Burek said: I don't see that happening. I see a bigger possibility of Nintendo being bought out by someone like Samsung or Google. Actually, the best fit would be Facebook buying Nintendo and putting all their games online with in-app purchases. That would be awesome. |
LMAO.

But, could Nintendo buy the PlayStation brand (or at least hire it's creators) so they could then own the brand and crush the gaming nation? Face it, Nintendo and Sony complete each other, and if Nintendo did this, it would be a win for everybody in the long run. Also, with the brand they'd get all devs, like Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, etc. Think. Nintendo sells tons of handhelds, but struggles more with consoles Sony sells tons of consoles, but struggles hard with handhelds. (Half of the time) Nintendo games have legs where Sony's don't, but Sony's consoles have legs where Nintendo's don't
So, Guaranteed successful console+guaranteed successful handheld+consoles with legs+games with legs=IMMENSE PROFIT 8.2m Wii U's, 17.3m PS4's, and 10.1m XB1's. If they combined, that would be 25.5+ Nintony consoles and probably even less Microsoft consoles sold, since a lot of people would flock to Sony seeing games like Mario, Zelda, Battlefield, and Uncharted on the same console. Handhelds would boost too and there would be almost no gaps between exclusives, with 2 different strong companies working. |
I think it's far more complicated than your options. Sony is hanging on while the PS4 is doing very well, but it likely won't last forever. If PS does go down, it will likely be split up and sold in pieces with the PS name being only one part of it and the studios and IP's others. It's possible that Sony could actually shut down nearly everything they have with the exception of PS as it's one of their only profitable parts, but Sony is very large and unless it was sold in pieces I don't think Nintendo would be interested in too much of it other than a couple studios.
It would likely be bad for the industry in the end if Sony goes under. MS would probably be more likely to try to purchase much of it. Monopolies are bad and it could become that way.
Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.
NOPE, The playstation brand doesn't not deserve to be part of Nintendo. The ips are not even that good.
Nintendo could buy some of the Game IPs and/or some patents from SONYs Gaming division, but the playstation brand? Sure as hell not. What would they do with it anyway, I think a Nintendo Playstation just sounds too wrong for all those who played on Sonys consoles.
