Forums - Nintendo - If Nintendo went Third-Party, what games would you buy from them?

I would go where Zelda goes. I'd expect other games to go to the same platforms so I'd also still get Mario 3D and Mario Kart and whatever else looks good enough. Unless they would succumb to the dark side and follow some other companies down the path of questionable practices. That would kill gaming for me.

I don't want them to go third party ever, and I don't believe they will at least this century, because being on the 'regular' console would have the games lose their 'uniqueness'. Nintendo wouldn't be in control of the direction of the hardware and the style of play anymore. At the end of the day though, I don't really care and like I said, I'd go wherever Zelda goes and keep on buying the things I am now.

Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Zelda, and Metroid

I don't really understand the idea some people have that Nintendo quality would plummet simply by going third-party. Seems like such a lack of confidence.

A picture of the Sega logo?  What does that even mean?  That all companies are the same?  That if something happens once, it will always happen throughout time?  Sorry, but I can't even wrap my head around that.  I remember when people were like, "the most powerful hardware can never win a generation because it's never happened before," and I was like, "what the hell are you talking about?"  That's not even logic.  It means nothing unless you can tell me why Nintendo and Sega are the same.  Make an argument other than, "well, it happened to this one other company."

All I can gather is that people seem to think Nintendo's developers are so bad that they can't work on any other platform but their own, which doesn't even make sense to me.  That's an amazing lack of faith.  The only valid argument I can think of is that Nintendo games wouldn't generate nearly as much revenue as before, which is probably true, but they should still move a ton of software, more than enough to fund the company going forward.  The only way that wouldn't happen is if it turned out that Nintendo fans were fans of the hardware and not the actual games and that would just be pathetic

No it means the premise of this topic is stupid. The same as the logic for Sega going third party was. Actually it's worse. Nintendo is not billions in debt like Sega.  Going multiplatform will scatter their fanbase while increasing development costs. Instead of developing for a single platform, they'll be developing for mutliple platforms to garner the same audience.

Can we just merge all the port-begging threads for Nintendo titles into one big amorphous glob?

Can we just be like GAF and ban people for port-begging? That's one thing they got right.

I like the way you think.

Just buy a f-ing Wii-U/3DS if you want Nintendo games.

Like someone said Sony/MS would go 3rd party long long before Nintendo.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

if Nintendo went 3rd party the quality and polish would suffer since they would not have the advantage of the strengths and weaknesses of their hardware and how to utilize it. Not to mention pressure from the companies they are making games for to but software out quickly rather than efficiently.

Perfect example is look what happened to Sega once they were not relying on Sega inhouse titles to move Sega consoles their polish used to be as good as Nintendo's back in the 90s where games from Sonic Team, AM2 and AM3 were held in the same regard as games from EAD

Mario Kart 8 - Sony won't bring another Fun Racer like Crash Team Racing. :(
