Forums - Microsoft - Does Microsoft have the right intentions as a video game console maker for a gamer?

imo microsofts goal, like sonys, is to become market leading provider of all sorts of home entertainment. the difference between them though is: compared to sony, microsoft has little to no interest in producing games (entertainment) themselves. microsoft is similar to nvidia and even valve by now: they all want to sell you the hardware and/or the infrastucture but the games (entertainment) for it should be produced by someone else.

At least phil spencer is showing that it care for the gamers for now, let see what happen in the future.

They are all businesses.

Having said that, I do think an MS led or dominated console industry would be far worse than the alternatives. We all got a glimpse of that last year.

They are in the industry to make money by making gamers happy and they therefore hire gaming enthusiasts like Phil Spencer.

MS goal is one they can't reach. No one can. The whole point of the Xbox line was to be the one box in the living room space for everything. Music,Movies,Games.

Problem. The living room is no longer stationary. The living room thanks to laptops, phones and tablets is mobile. Few kids even watch TV anymore and I mean the physical big TV. It's on devices. For those who do sit in the living room have smart TV's or Roku or Apple TV Amazon Fire. It's a crowded market. MS with XB brand still aiming for what they aimed for in 2001. PS2 won that war. PS3 took it further and now it's not even relevant.

Some would say that's passion for Tomb Raider, so much so they made it exclusive to xbox one.

They have a passion to find an answer for Uncharted, which is why paid for Tomb Raider exclusivity. After failing to make their own answer quite a few times they had to do it. But its ok...Spencer is a fan of Uncharted and fans know their competitions potential. ;)

And Sony had a passion to counter Halo, therefore ordering their developer to create what became Killzone, they all do it :).

And I am quite sure MS wants to dominate Sony when it comes to hardware sales but I am also sure MS does not want Sony to go out of business, these are two companies that have a healthy relationship on a corporate level, it is us fans that make up this imaginary "console war".

They are in it for the money. But with Xbox not making much money and Nadella in charge, I don't think MS will stay in the console business for another gen.

They only came into the gaming industry to to take out Sony because they refused to partner with them. They were also working on their own OS and Ms dosent like when other multimedia companies are popular and have their own os, so they sought to destroy the. Joachim kempin who used to be one of the former heads in ms at the time of the Xbox  creation admitted to this.

Its not an official VGC MS thread until STAGE chimes in to remind us all for the thousandth time why MS got into the industry lol.

Thats a great insight into why MS entered almost 2 decades ago. However, since that war is long over and MS neednt worry about it any more, it isnt really relevant to the current MS.

And that current MS is in it for the same reason as Sony and Nintendo. To push services and products and make monies.

No, they do not have the right intentions ...

It's pretty clear that consumers don't share the same view as Microsoft does ...

Their going to need more than the goal of taking over the living room to be able to truly succeed ...

You saw MS's 2013 E3 before the launch of Xbone right? .....yea definitely not the right intentions.
