How can be people answering Yes to this question? really HOW can somebody think that Rockstar could make a better Zelda game than the company  that has created and has made Zelda the best saga ever? Ocarina of Time, A link to the past, Wind Waker... If is the greatest saga ever is obvioulsy because Nintendo, if somebody else could do something that good they would already done.

Exactly, wasn't Fable supposed to be the Zelda killer? I remember hearing about that a lot before it came out and.... Well.... Hell no.

I don't see why not, Rockstar is full of amazingly talented developers and not only is the Zelda formula firmly established but the games don't seem difficult to make given how basic they all are.

Now if the question were 'Could Nintendo EAD could make a better GTA than Rockstar?' I could understand all the derisive laugher and no's.

Two pennies' worth. :P

Have you played a few Zelda games? The quality of the puzzles and dungeon design is far out of Rockstar's league (based on their experience with doing such things, not based on their pedigree as developers). Arkham City had good puzzles and dungeons for a realistic game (I know its not a Rockstar game, just giving an example) but after experiencing puzzles like those with the Time Shift Stones, or one of my greatest gaming memories ever: finding all 30 gold skultulas in the 2nd house of skultula in Majora's mask, or playing the Tower of Spirits in Spirit Tracks and switching seamlessly between Zelda (who would be controlling the body of a phantom I had taken over, and have that particular Phantom's special ability) and Link, to mention just a few, after experiencing such magic, most puzzles in more realistic games hardly ever feel as good.

Games like God of War, Final Fantasy, etc have some good puzzles, but never on the scale and with the consistency that Zelda games have. Someone mentioned earlier that different people want different things from zelda games. For someone like me who comes for the puzzles, Rockstar wouldn't have a chance of making a better Zelda game.

Zelda is divisive because they try to shake things up in different ways each time. Nintendo can't make a Zelda that will satisfy everyone and neither can anyone else because different people want different things from a Zelda game.

I wasn't keen on Skyward Sword because it was all dungeon style action and puzzles. I like Zelda overworlds and, whilst the dungeons were great, the overworld was lacking in SS and not very open. I ended up feeling sick of constant dungeon-esk puzzles even though they were the some of the best of any Zelda.

Other people hated Majora's Mask (My favourite) for the opposite reason. All overworld subquests with just a handful of unremarkable dungeons.

You can't please everyone and Rockstar certainly won't.

Skyward Sword is my personal favorite, and I'm seriously hoping the Wii U game will be a good mixture between Skyward Sword (every inch packed with activity) and A Link between Worlds (the least linear Zelda since Zelda 1). Since they're trying to make an open world, non-linear game, a HUGE open world, then it must have even more overworld subquests than Majora's Mask did.

Sony japan could though. The gameplay would suffer but the art direction would be perfect.

Even then gameplay is very important in Zelda, though Nintendo was able to mess up Skyward Sword, so.

Wait, what? Are you one of those who hates the motion controls, or you actually think the gameplay is worse than previous Zelda games? In other words, ifthe game had classic controls, would you like it better? I've beaten 6 Zelda games (played 10) and not only do I think Skyward Sword has the best set of dungeons so far, I also think it has less filler than most other Zeldas (the train sections in Spirit Tracks, sailing in Windwaker, the large, empty hyrule field in Twilight Princess, etc)

Let's face it Rockstar could make a better *insert game here* than most any other game developer out there.

I dare them to make a better Portal game than Valve, a better action game than most of Platinum's work, or a better casual yet tough and imaginative touch-controlled puzzle game than Cut the Rope, for starters.

A lot of these answers assume Rockstar's hypothetical iteration of Zelda would be GTA in a fantasy setting. However, I highly doubt that would be the case. They have very talented developers and I'm sure they'd uphold the spirit of Zelda while injecting some sandbox elements that their other games are known for. And if anyone hates that idea, I don't see them liking the next Zelda, because that's essentially what Nintendo themselves are doing!

God no! GTA bores me to no end. Dont want them getting anywhere near Zelda.

I can already imagine gangster Link with a firegun, a mini nuke and a pair of knives stealing the villager's mounts.

Please... just no.

This is a very straightforward question. No.

Exactly like Nintendo can't do a GTA game like Rockstar, Rockstar can't do a Zelda game like only Nintendo can do.
Just a feeling...
