The irony then of your username lol.  But I digress.

I thought the pacing and themeing of the game was fantastic.  It nailed the old west pretty perfectly and the side missions and activites were very enjoyable (Duels, Poker, Hunting).  The world felt alive with the wild animals that would attack you randomly, as well as the random encounters with strangers.  It also had a great soundtrack.

It's a play on my real name, which is why I picked it. I didn't like the actual game. Oh, well.

Like I said, it did nail down setting pretty well, and that's something that they've always done right. In terms of actual game mechanics, it was also a Rockstar game: clunky combat, thumb-breaking controls, and missions that just weren't all that interesting. I want Rockstar to stay far, far away from Zelda.

Not to mention they remaster their games after a year of release. No thanks.

Admittedly, while I have 99 problems with the idea of Rockstar touching Zelda, that ain't one of them. Almost everybody pulls the crap of one-year-later remasters or "complete editions" with all the DLC they sold piecemeal for 15-20 bucks included.  Even Nintendo did "remasters" a few times in the past though they don't seem to make a regular habit of it. Wouldn't be surprised to see a Mario Kart 8 GOTY edition though.

No!

Rockstar makes great open world games.
Zelda doesn't focus on open world, Zelda focus more on atmosphere. ;)

I wouldn't say Rockstar. Bethesda maybe.

Good god, no. I've just been discovering Bethesda's games this past year - I don't want Zelda to turn into something that crashes every few hours, glitches every 15 minutes and has hundreds of locations that all look like copy-pastes of each other. Nononononononono.

Not to mention combat that feels like slap fights with paper dolls. And I really liked Fallout 3 and New Vegas (especially the latter).

Rockstar could probably make a pretty decent game with an elflike character named Link, and fans of GTA would enjoy it a lot better than Zelda. Fans of the Zelda series would dislike it. Whether that means it would be "a better Zeda" is up to you to decide.

We love it like an underacheiving son.

The Dad deserves all the criticism he gets, though.

That was actually the Bethesda games I was playing! I agree on the combat, too, it's not unplayable but it feels odd.

As much as I've enjoyed Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I don't think Bethesda are actually particularly great developers.

Since they're masters of open world, and if Nintendo wanted an open world game, then consulting Rockstar would be a very strategic move.

Yeah, their QA definitely leaves much to be desired.

I liked Fallout 3 and New Vegas because they probably have the most satisfying Western post-apocalyptic settings overall. The combat just doesn't have any weight to it. It doesn't feel like you're connecting to the enemy in melee, and long-range combat is largely redeemed by the bullet-time mechanic (VATS).  I also wish to God Bethesda would hire better character designers.

Serious?! GTA games bore the shit out of me.. Zelda games are a completely different style dude.
