Yes, there´s no need to make things look worse than they are, but I´m really tired of read so many threads and comentaries about Nintendo getting doomed when it´s actually Sony the nearest to crash by far. And yes, i don´t think they´re going to bankrupt, they will change it´s business model in some way, but the fact is that ps3 make them lose so much money (first year they were selling a 900$ console for 600), than even great ps4 sales are not enoght to make profit. Even Nintendo is making good profit with WiiU having shitty numbres. Anyways, that´s out of topic.

Well, Nintendo have always had a smart and brilliant business model. They did have troubles recently due to the Wii U but they also have the goldmine that is the 3DS. They had a great profit last quarter. That should silence the haters really. Not that you should take them seriously in the first place.

And yes, The PS3 was too ambitious for its own good, but how Sony handed the situation was immersive. Hopefully Sony return to profit soon, not just the entertainment division (which was profitable last quarter). I like the quality of their products in general.

I like their quality too, i hope they´ll get over this terrible times, i don´t want so see any of the 3 companies falling, but there´s so many people that want Nintendo to fail... Even on this forum i see a lot of people that being polite are saying ***** U Nintendo and can´t understand why, and is harde from me to understand all that Nintendoomed thing when numbres are NOT saying that, the are actually saying that is 3 times more possible to see a sonydoomed, something that i don´t really want.

There are people doing this to the 3 companies and spreading hate speech a lot... you contributed something when bashing sony financials on a thread that have nothing to do with it, and some idiots want nintendo 3rd party just so they can save 250 dollars... but them some other fools expend that buying yearly CoDs.

To Icstats , profit = net income , not operating income . So actually nintendo is currently profitable- though only just.

The gaming business in that report is effectively breaking even (Small loss actually). They got their profit because of a favorable exchange rate environment. Both sony and nintendo are very sensitive to the usd/jpy rate.

. Also nintendo won't be reporting earnings for q3 fy 2015 until jan 28 . Q3 fy 2015 isn't over for them until the end of the year. Their financial year starts April 1 .

Sonys last statement reported massive losses . Even for gaming. Though at the start of a console cycle this seems fairly typical.

Sony reported loses because of Mobile... no massive loses from consoles (even their first anual report with consoles weren't that bad), but their last quarter from what I remember was good.

Didnt Nintendos gaming division make more than Sonys last quarter?

Nintendo as a whole made a bit more profit than Sony's gaming division last quarter, yes. Doesn't change anything I said though.

It does make it funny.

Not really. Nintendo did not recently release a new console. PS4 will start raking in the money when production costs go down.

Expected drop for the X1 sales, as the initial frenzy of the price cut settles down a bit, and BF is over. But it's still selling quite well. As is the PS4.

The Wii U's sales are a shame to see. But I understand why they betted on Smash being more of a system seller. But it turns out it wasn't.
Either most Smash fans already bought it when MK8 came out, or they're waiting for a price drop/Smash bundle like me.

PS4 Europe numbers are really really impressive though. Even without a big price cut + a bunch of free games, etc.
EU looks almost as big of a market as North America for this gen.

PS4, XB1, WiiU, & 3DS sales this week:

NA: 777,193
EU: 744,468

Only a 33k difference.
If the PS4 had a similar price cut in EU as the one XB1 is having in US, you can bet that the EU numbers would be a lot higher than the NA numbers.

wii u is a little undertracked this week since it did 21k in france that week so it techically did over 190k but hey Im nitpickyy :P

xbox one will continue to drop due to us biggest shopping day being over and eu wont go up that much

3ds and ps4 will go up quite a bit though

No XB1 will rise from now on. Sales are going up again in NA (and Europe).

You're correct. Nintendo managed to make a small profit for one quarter and Nintendo fans are already using that to win arguments lol. Let's see how this year ends

Wrong. Gaming division profited in Q2.

5 since the 4 last days of december are mixed with the first 3 days of January

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

5.

To make it easier to remember, every year it's 4, 4, 5, 4, 4, 5... So March, June, September and December (or months 3, 6, 9, 12) have 5 weeks.
