Forums - Sony Discussion - Eurogamer: Reasons Why you might not want to pre-order The Order 1886

It's obvious (Eurogamer) don't want to review the game, no reason to give them a review copy.

LOL, this would be amazing. "Shit on 1886 (and that game alone) months before release, you get to buy your 'review copy.'" It'd be bad for both parties, but oh so entertaining to watch it all play out.

Not just that.  All Sony published titles from now on.

It would be great for Sony, as the media needs those early copies to make reviews before/on release.  They wouldn't want to piss Sony off and risk hits going to other websites for not having the next Uncharted on time.

I'm not all that fond of The Order but why is this being singled out.

Was expecting this to be posted.

Mentioning bugs in a game that is months from completion is ridiculous.

The Order is an easy target it appears. I have never seen Eurogamer tell people not to preorder other games. If the article simply stuck to what they actually played and didn't mention not preordering, it would have been fine, but clearly they are looking for clicks.

Pathetic

Yeah, especially after glossing over bugs in AC Unity and giving The crew an 8, not even mentioning the car handling in a driving game review. Eurogamer is starting to become a joke.

I never pre-order anyway, but I won't be basing my purchase decision off Eurogamer's reviews either.

Ugh.. Ian Higton from Eurogamer is known for labelling a game "interactive movie" if it has 1 single QTE. See it as a fucking cutscene where you have to stay awake and actually gain something from the story. Every damn game doesn't have to be the same! Sigh..

Where were there warning for other games released recently? And a nice 8/10 for The Crew.

I really liked what I saw of that demo...

Sorry to EG, but I don't think my feelings on games meet their feelings on what is good these days. Ever since the Mafia 3 review, and other pretty poor reviews, I just don't care... getting it day 1, will probably really enjoy it.

I do find it surprising that no sites seem to be criticising Until Dawn for QTE's.... sounds like selective stuff.

There is no sorry to EG, it’s an opinion so if yours does not match up with the author then it’s a go.  For me, the video highlighted everything I do not want to do in a game.  I do not like a lot of QTEs.  Its one of the main reasons I cannot get with any of David Cage games like Heavy Rain.  I wanted to like and play the game but became to bored and never came close to finishing any of them.

Absolutely cannot stand instant fail type of stealth missions where I have to start at the beginning if caught.  What that tells me is that the game is prescripted through those parts and if you do not do it exactly as the developer wants then it screws up the game.  Stuff like that would frustrate me and make me hate the game.

While these things are may not be an issue for me, they are pretty big deal breakers for me.  I wish more sites for previews would give you their good and bad instead of the gushing previews we see then a painful review when the game arrives.

As far as until dawn, I do not believe anyone actually had time to play the game to give you a feeling on how it plays.  Do not forget that the author actually played the Order and this is his opinion of that play through.

But that's my point, I dont care what the opinion is of the author, because he is not me :)

Hey look if you dont like linear games, dont like QTE's, dont like certain mechanics, I dont have any issues whatso ever with that... I dont mind them, I am saying I AM FINE with it, i dont care what a set of individuals who are different to me like or do not like.

I learnt that lesson well after review sites gave poor scores to Mafia 3 and Dead Island, two fantastic games of the last gen, which scored poorly by some sites.

I think it is laughable that sites seem to have a boner to slate the Order but AC unity and Halo and Battlefield all pretty much get off unscathed in reviews. AC Unity is a mighty mess, and many sites ignored the issues... the "I didnt seem many issues with the game" is total BS.
