November and December's sales are the highest months out of the whole year. Means nothing if you can't win when it counts.

What a stupid thing to say.

In the US from week ending 4th janaury - 1st november ps4 sold 2,821,345 and XBO sold 1,778,909. That's a gap of 1,042,436 and that means nothing?

Ridiculous.

If PS4 can't win the Novembers and Decembers every year, then there's no sure way of it winning the US. Simple as that. Xbox One's momentum is rising.

MS will make a push for Tax month, expect a similar push as to what we've seen for BF. As for the other 5 months, PS4 will continue to lead yes. I imagine MS will want to try and start selling more than PS4 earlier than November next year tho. Probably E3, is when they'l start releasing all of their games, and a proper price cut, leading into 2016 having a good plan for games all year round.

Note, I am sayng this is likely their plan/aim, won't neccesserily happen.

They will do something that is a sure bet, but so is sony.  Whiel MS already launched 2 of the biggest franchises, we both know PS4 has not gotten a top 3 PS franchise yet.  MS is runing up a hill and its gonna get much steaper soon.

MS strategy is well known, and to easy for sony to counter.

Halo 5 is the true first entry for Halo this gen. Fable (although I argue it has any relevance) and Gears have yet to launch. MS will make their splash by buying big IP going forward, ala Tomb Raider.

Sony have some amazing IP but it isn't the reason PS4 has been leading, just like it didn't help them to get remotely close in the US last gen.

If MS get the price/value down, it's gonna be hard for Sony to compete in US.

Of course Sony can price cut themselves.

None of it is clear cut I'll say that.

I am lowballing it with a gap of 100k in December.

Its still halo already on xbox and we seen the expectations.  Exclusives didnt do much for PS3, but to say they wont do much for PS4 is foolish.  Two different product in different market positions as the PS4 is a massive success a stream of exclusives and their marketing will easily punch it past X1 for much of the year.  Then of course MS will try to out do all that come the holidays.  Which they wont as they wont out do this years PS4 sales advantage these holidays.  PS4 will continue leading America while ms will have to go balls out for X1 to bein the 45% share range.

If it was 400k November then maybe 200k this December? Unless of course Sony does something against it.

I don't see the XBO making up the 1 million gap over november and december, if it doesn't it could still have a shot at overtaking ps4 in the US for holiday 2015 aslong as the ps4 doesn't go back to dominating for the first 10 months of the year, then by the holiday season next year the gap might be even larger than a million. It's difficult to predict really.

I'm not saying it will. But I know Xbox One won't be in the same postition as 1st half of 2014 with that $500 price point.

How many people live in america and don't have an XBO yet? About that much. XBO will achieve 100% saturation of the USA market by the end of 2014.

311 million sales for Xbox One in December confirmed.

Legit preditction - 194,529

I don't think it will at all

but we will see i guess

I see it as a failure to capitalize on their situation. Sony said in post E3 interviews last year they were ready to launch at $349.99 if MS had announced a $399.99 price point. They should have called MS on this price point and never let them get any momentum.

I said it as soon as MS announced this price point. Sony has to react, because Americans buy based on the dollar, not the value. This is why they won the PS2 era the way they did. You have to be ruthless when you have momentum, and are on top of the mountain. Now they have let MS rebuild, and gain momentum. No matter how much it is, it is steam taken away from the PS4 train.

In the end all sales matter. Whether it is 1:1 or 5:1 you never let off the gas. This is not a football game where you respect the other team, and run the clock down. America, Japan, Asia, EU they all matter. It is not about the overall picture, it is about complete domination.

What situation? and why would do need to capitalize on anything when they already had a 1M lead in that territory. Which is now down to 700k. Mind you, this is the only territory that NA has a fighting chance and is still just one territory. You talk as if this gen ends this year. sony was wise not to match the price of the XB1. You could get an XB1 this season for $330 with two free games AC:U and AC4. And in some cases, with a gift card added to that. That means you were getting the XB1 for as low as $190. Can you imagine the kinda hit MS has taken to make this happen? Why in Gods name would sony want to do the same.

Do you know how bundling games work? Especially when those games are third party games. I still say we should wait and see what happens from january through to october next year. Lets see just how much momentum MS has built in NA.
