I wonder if people will ever again trust Spin Spencer after that

If anything he undersold it, since its less holiday exclusive, and more like Holiday, Spring, Summer and Autumn exclusive.

Certainly more fun than some random armor in Destiny and the controversy has raised RotTR profile 10 fold.

This is definitely the ultimate facepalm of the generation so far, it was always just a logical thing that it would eventually release on PS4 really.
Sony have always had Tomb Raider on their platforms, every core TR game, the last one sold best on PS4 and PS3 out of all platforms as far as I'm aware, yet people insisted it would never make it to anything Playstation.

Perhaps if 3rd party software sales were in Xbox One's favor to the same degree as they have been on PS4 then we could have seen a different situation and the game would have stayed off of PS4, but that isn't the reality.
There was never any statement that this game was an outright XBox exclusive or an outright Windows only thing, yet Xbox guys ran with that line of thinking, despite having no logical proof to support it.

Likening the RotTR situation to Ryse or Dead Rising 3 is completely disingenuous when there are no similarities whatsoever.

If he did that he'd have to include the PC. He made the correct move for a politician.

That's not even remotely true since the game is releasing on PC in early 2016, which automatically puts it in the Q1/2 window.

As for you "controversy" comment, if anything it's going to have an even more negative effect on the sales of the game on XBox because it's clear now that the better versions of the game will be availble pretty soon after the basic version comes out.

This holds no incentive for PS4 owners to buy an XBox One, if they still own a 360 they can just buy it there and any PC gamers just have to wait a few months.

Also the game's releasing right near Fallout 4, which is likely going to absolutely curbstomp anything that isn't COD or Battlefront, maybe even Metal Gear 5.

Most likely GT7 will be a Fall 2016 release, since Kaz Yamaucha has already stated that the game will be out before 2017, so it's pretty likely the release of RotTR will get brought forward into the summer, otherwise it will be clobbered by fresh, new big games.

CD should just release it on PC and PS4 in the Summer, away from Uncharted 4 or Horizon, which will both likely dominate Q2.

Time for some crow people lol

He said the deal was "like Ryse", made some believe it was never coming to PS4.

As an Xbox exclusive? No, it isn't. Not to mention that autumn ends on December 21, and I'm quite sure SE plans to publish the PS4 version well before that day.

Still Phil Spencer didn't spin much. It's thanks to him that we knew it was a timed exclusive. That Aaron guy, instead.. He must be the best friend of Don Mattrick.

Wonderful. This what makes VGC so great at times.

Phil spinned a lot first, saying " we wouldnt fund a game to see it coming on other platforms", but when he saw people were understanding the truth, he told part of it to prevent people to call it a liar, but still

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Notice he specifically said like. He avoided saying exactly or the same. Hopefully people will pick up on these clues in future quotes from Mr. Spencer.

For those saying Phil doesn't spin, let us look at another obvious example:
"The Parity Clause is dead, long live the Parity Clause!"

Phil says that he thinks the parity clause is dead all while describing that they actually use the parity clause developers have complained about.
