Forums - Sony - I'm convinced it's impossible to deliver impressive graphics today

Lol I know see your one and only motivation. You claim the game has a downgrade but it has yet to be released...Not only that but you've seen a compressed video of the game. But whatever, if bashing the game makes you feel better then go right ahead.

there's already a downgrade from since the teaser:

And the image on the right isn't even in game. more downgrades can happen.

What downgrade? The model seems to be the same! The difference is that in the first pic Nathan is wet and in the second it's not.Plus there is a moonlight on the first pic and ambient light on the second.

are people really that much desperate trying to bash this game?

the difference is that the teaser was more detailed. The hair is particularly noticeable.

and as I said, neither is in game. the actual in game graphics are less detailed than either image.

The hair was hide in the shadows in the first pic. It's probably the same hair but the night shadows + moonlight was giving a better look.Different lightning can cause better or worse IQ,that is my point. look at watch dogs at night rainning and compare with daylight no rain. It's a totally different IQ.

Of course it doesn't look like that E3 trailer (especially his hair) but I'm suitably impressed. Especially considering that it's pre alpha and they're still targeting 60fps afaik.

Should we really be surprised though?

The PS4 and X1 are basically just PC components in a box with a fairly weak CPU.

There's nothing really that tech wise they should be able to do that would be light years past what a good PC rig can pull off.

Hence I think it's harder to impress people.

I think too the last gen was like a "leap generation" in terms of graphics, the combination of the addition of high end shading/lighting effects + polygon counts reaching a certain high level meant that it was a monstrous leap over the previous gen. You could create character models that looked seamless and fairly smooth, now you can add 10x the polys to that if you want but it'll be more of a refinement that a huge jump.

They probably forgot how Uncharted 1 looked.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

Looked pretty good to me.

It's gaf. What do you guys expect?

Around the Network

Uncharted 1-2 had a bigger leap though because the PS3 was a more exotic architecture that took a big toll on devs to properly utilize the CELL processor and those were the days of developers first getting the hang of HD graphics/shaders. So as expected there was a larger learning curve last gen.

I don't think you'll see that same kind of jump from Uncharted 4 to 5 (say) as the PS4 is a much more straight forward chipset.

Well, it's like Zelda (in less unpolished) , it's an alpha version so it would be stupid to judge the visuals as the definitive ones, still, the visuals are already very impressive.

And gameplay wise, it's so damn good.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

Download the full uncompressed video if you want to revel in the graphics (A 1.6GB file). I can honestly say that this looks better than anything I have played on PC. Yes BF4 and Metro: LL come a little close, but UC4 is king (1080p of course).

Have you played Ryse Son of rome maxed out on PC?, It might not be as open as UC4 but it sure does top it when it comes to graphics..

I have, and it doens't.
Download the full uncompressed video of the gameplay if you want to comment.

On Ryse PC version we have better Tesselation effects, better higher res textures, better lighting, higher res shadows, Super sampling (Maxed out you would have it on) Makes the game look so clear sometimes you would think you was watching a film.

I have downloaded the full un compressed video and this is coming from a huge uncharted fan (Mean reason for owning my PS4) but Ryse PC maxed out does look better visually, But then like i said saying that Uncharted has more open ended levels then Ryse and it is the best looking game on Consoles already and still has almost a year left to go!.

I am well aware of what Ryse on PC has.  After all I just said I played it.  The fact is that I find Uncharted 4 to look better and be FAR more impressive.  A QTE fest does nothing to impress me with a couple of enemies on screen at a time and static areas.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

It's not the real reason, the leap will always exist, it existed as much for 360 whereas it hadnt a complex architecture.

Games we will get in 2-3 years will be Uncharted 4 levels for a lot , and the next ND game will show a good jump too, they are only training on PS4 with this last Uncharted

There is no 'maxed out Uncharted' as the PS4 version is the only version. And the frame rate did dip a few times.

It doesn't. Watch the uncompressed video from Gamersyde. No stutter or frame drops like on the stream. And it looks MUCH better on there too. I'll post some screenshots of it when I can.

I watched the Playstation vid on youtube. While that compresses the vid, it doesn't explain why I did see some small instances of framedrop.

It's in Alpha?  lol
