I really can't understand the hype and sales for PS4. It's like gamers don't actually care about the most important thing... Games.

Now don't get me wrong, PS4 will end up with many great games during its lifetime (a lot of them will even be exclusive), but that isn't the case right now. Most games available now are also on the PS3. I guess that disproves the myth that graphics don't matter. Obviously they're super important for the majority of the gamers.

So much wrong with this comment I dont know where to start.  In the last couple of weeks alone we have had Far Cry 4, Dragon Age, GTA V.  Of course graphics matter.  If they didn't we would all still be playing on PS1s and PS2s and earlier.

All of the above games are available on PS3 you are indeed correct.  But none of them play as well on the older systems, nor look as good, nor run as nicely.  So obviously people are going to buy these games on the new systems.  Its common sense.

And to suggest that the PS4 doesn't have any games right now is absurd.  I've got about 20 physical releases and about a dozen digital titles which suggest otherwise.  There might not be many games to your individual taste, granted.  But to suggest there isn't any is just plain ignorant.

Also, 15 million sales seem to dictate that people on a whole, disagree with you also.

Sales say nothing about quality though. Unless you think Justin Bieber rivals Beethoven in musical talent. That's my whole point, these games are all on the older gen systems and run just fine there! This might just be me, but I only upgrade to a new console when there are exclusive (to that specific gen) games out on it.

Yes but thats still not really valid.  Thats the same as trying to convince someone who has a massively souped up PC that they are getting the same experience as someone else who is running the game on a knackered old PC held together by 10 year old dust.  Its not the same though is it.  The games play better on the new consoles, thats not an opinion, its fact.

Pretty bad analogy as a 10 year old PC wouldn't be able to run the most modern games coming out. Oh well, I'll be patiently awaiting the first good exclusives for a PS4, that will be the main reason why I'll eventually buy a PS4. First party games made by Sony and Nintendo just stand out to me compared to the third party studios (with their annual releases, broken games at launch and what not).

Ok now, 20,2M at the end of year ils confirmed

I'm starting to think that even 20m will be below real sales in the end....

Sony expects to ship 9.4 million PS3s + PS4s from Oct 1st 2014 until Mar 31st 2015. I think they will either sabotage themselves (hold shipments for next FY, as they've done in the past) or go over their FY forecast by 1-2+ million.

One advice: DON'T TRUST SONY SHIPMENTS PROJECTIONS EVER. They're awful, not only with PS4.

Can't remember a time when sony shipped over their projections though. Even one time when they clearly were going to, but held back shipments for the next FY.

Xbox was down last week actually.  So, sorry, but no this isnt believable.

In any case, I dont care what happened last week... look at the software chart.  The Xbox ONE will have had a boost bigger than the WiiU this week.  No question about it.

I'm aware Xbone dropped slightly last week, but this does not affect my argument at all. Its slight decrease was because the effect from Halo was not enough to counter the drop from COD bundles, but nevertheless it helped sustain it, otherwise it would have dropped much more notably (logically speaking).

Wii U's increase might be bigger percentage wise (by 1% lol), but let's not forget that it only increased 1k week-over-week... that's a pitiful number, and totally logical. I don't know if Xbone is undertracked or not, but WIi U's increase proves absolutely nothing imo.

A usual seasonal boost plus GTA of 17%?  no,  its wrong.

We will see, but I am sure I am right on this.

I would agree with you if Xbone didn't have huge bundles and titles released over the past three weeks, raising sales to a higher-than-usual level. I'm curious, why are you neglecting the fact that sales were boosted last week in particular by Halo bundles and the effect of that on this week's numbers?

Great to see massive sales for systems, next week should be another strong week and then week before Christmas strong again.

Great week for PS4 and X1. I'm curious what caused that massive PS4 boost.

Smash Bros doesn't seem to be the game changer Wii U fans hoped. I think the only major IP Nintendo has left for Wii U is Zelda.

It got a 40k boost from a game that wasn't even bundled

and no one expected it to be putting sales over 100k in america

evryone expected this except optimistics :P

PS4 had GTA V + Far Cry 4 bundles in Europe, plus both games were advertised exclusively for PS4 all over the world. Oh and LittleBigPlanet 3 released in NA.

Yes, gemers don't care about the best version of GTAV, the best version of Dragon Age, Far Cry4, COD: AW, Shadow of Mordor, The Evil Within, Destiny, NBA 2K 15, Fifa 15,  etc etc.

You are right, these are not games. Only Mario kart is a game...

Don't know if I should laugh or cry...

Aren't most of those games better on PC? Serious question as I don't buy many games on my PC.

Many prefer to play on Console, and Far Cry4, for example, looks very good VS PC ultra.   Multiplatform games are the ones which move more sales and consoles along the entire generation, and PS4 has the best version(Console).  Also the Playstation brand is the most popular on this planet. Don't know why you are surprised about these sales. Exclusive games are coming like an hurricane in 2015, don't worry.  By the time being, enjoy the PS4 games and sales :)

I really wonder..... Why do Americans buy consoles the week before black friday's deals? I mean they must know there will be great bundles if they just wait 1 more week?

Some probably just don't consider it, maybe not savvy to Black Friday, and probably have no interest in leaving the house during all the Black Friday bullshit.

Littlebigplanet 3 is also on PS3 and graphically it holds up quite well compared to the PS4 (look at comparison vids if you want). All games you mentioned are also on the PS3 or XBONE. Or PC...

Your premise is flawed as it relies on any one of these statements being true:

1. Everyone who would buy a PS4 already has a PC capable of gaming

2. Everyone who would buy a PS4 already has a PS3 or XBONE

3. Everyone who would buy a PS4 would rather buy a 5+ year old cheaper console than the shiny new one

Fact is people are willing to ride hype trains, buy the "best" product, and invest in new hardware.  For those reasons, the system sells.
