Forums - Nintendo - AC Rogue numbers, so what Ubisoft

Skidmore said:

Looking at AC rogue debut, it seems that the game won't come close to a million units in a single plataform... It probably will peform just 1.5 or 2 times the half assed port of ACIV for Wii U.

I really don't understand why Ubisoft didn't make the game for the Wii U too, they were like 80% the way with AC IV,  the visuals were above Xbox 360, adjusting that terrible framerate to 30fps locked and the version would make it the Ultimate one to go, since there wasn't a PS4/Xone version.

Rayman proved it.

O where do we start... They released AC3 and AC4 at the same time as the other versions and even though the install base has increased the sales of that game did not, will show the numbers (all in million units)...

AC3:

PS3: 6.08
X360: 4.97
WiiU: 0.28, around 4.6% of the PS3 version and 5.6% of the 360 one.

AC4:

PS3: 3.63
X360: 2.84
WiiU: 0.21, around 5.7% of the PS3 version and 7% of the 360 one.

There was a minor increase in percentage but overall sales for AC4 were actually worse with a bigger install base, in the numbers follow the same trend for this edition and if we calculate only based on first week numbers, it would look something like this...

ACR:

PS3: 0.17
X360: 0.15
WiiU: 0.012, around 7% of the PS3 version and 8.1% of the 360 one.

A total loss of money and resources, and that is why they did not bothered with Rogue for the Wii U, it sucks because the game is pretty good and some people may appreciate it, but Watch_dogs was their last mature effort and the number prove them right.

well they wouldnt have sold so much FW, but the game would have had legs, because there isnt so much else to buy on the wii u for that audience.

By that logic, almost every game except for all the Wii U platformers would end up selling well on the Wii U .

More importatnly, people buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games not really for games like AC.

the late ports did sale okay for what they were, and even shitty sonic games sale okay.

the problem is, ubi is so incompetent, they have to sale 200k just to break even with the port.

and yes, nintendo console buyers normaly dont like bad gameplay and bugs.

Personally, I've not been happy with my last assassin's creed games. III & III Liberation on PS3, and vita were both extremely buggy. Falling through the floors, and tons of random glitching. Something odd happened literally every play through of the game.

I bought both, hoping they'd be good.. I was the 3rd game in the series, and it wasn't done right? Not only that, but even future titles have bugs too? I'm done with Ubisoft for a while. I cannot trust them.

Speed Devils on dreamcast is the only game I liked from them. Well, it was my favorite racing game on the console... But, until they show they can make a game that isn't buggy as all AC games I know of have been, I can't do it.

But think with me, the user base is twice as it was when ACIV launched in the Wii U, and it did something around 210k, but that game had superior versions in the PC/XOne/PS4.

This year, there was no competition for it, just Bayonetta 2. And it could have been the best version, just like Bayonetta 1 is superior in the Wii U.

hmm, maybe you're right but the game had barely any promotion as well. Ubisoft mainly advertised AC Unity. I doubt Rogue would have sold anywhere near 210k on the Wii U.

Actually this could have been Nintendos chance to get an exlcuisve bundle and advertising campaign

raise some sales

plus get some exclusive dlc like what ps4 did with destiny and xbo with cod I think?

There are several things that baffles me. Capcom not releasing Resident Evil Revelations 2 for the WiiU or Konami not releasing Pro Evolution Soccer on it. Fifa is not one the console. You would have a complete monopoly.

Theres not thinking your games will sell on the WiiU and then theres just stupidity in management, like in these two cases...

Take a look a Revelations 1 sales on Wii U.  Stupidity would be repeating something and expecting different results.

why not put it on 3ds or something it would outsell the xbo version just with japan :P

Rogue should probably have been scrapped altogether, tho it was probably pretty cheap to make given how much recycled stuff there is. Ubisoft underestimated how quickly last gen would fall off. Also Rogue X360 sold 150k week one vs 27k for Black Flag Wii U. Hell it took BF Wii U 8 weeks just to crack 100k. Presumably Rogue on Wii U would have sold worse than Black Flag Wii U given there being a lot less hyper period.

I'm sure there is a flawed point intended here, but since you negleted to make a point I cannot tell in what way it is wrong.

Well the Nintendo 3DS is a handheld device made by...you guessed it, Nintendo. The WiiU is a home console made by...right again, Nintendo.

Now, the video game Resident Evil: Revelations was released for this Nintendo 3DS in early 2012. It was not a casual title by any means. So the people buying it were probably the more "hardcore" Nintendo fans.

Fast forward about 10 months and it was time for Nintendo to finally release their home console, the WiiU. Fans were eager to get their hands on it and the console did fairly well at launch thanks to these "hardcore" Nintendo fans that were more than ready to play new exciting games on their brand new gaming device.

Then in may of 2013, Resident Evil: Revelations was ported over to the WiiU (among other consoles) in glorious high definition. The many fans of Sonys Playstation 3 and Microsofts Xbox 360 were happy that they were finally able to play this fun and exciting game they had heard so much about from their fellow gamers. Nintendo fans however...were not quite as excited. Because you see they had already played through the game and had a jolly good time doing so i might add, but didnt really see any reason to purchase the same game again when there are other new and exciting games to play.

So in conclusion: Capcom fucked up...

What does Wii U have to do with Ubisoft not promoting the game at all?

If it doesn't sell on PS360 why would they want it to also not sell on Wii U?
