There's some massive bias in this list. With the non Nintendo games they're adding all genres together under one series, while they're clearly splitting genres off on the Nintendo side.

How fair is it that they add every Mega Man game including exe titles, the fighting games, racing games, ports, remakes, compilations, etc, and then with Pokemon they only count the Pokemon generations.  They don't count the spinoff games like Pokemon Dash, Snap, the Mysterious Dungeon games, Pokemon Conquest, etc, etc, etc.  This is true for pretty much everything on the Nintendo side of the list.

Also, when people say Mario, they don't mean Mario specifically, but that world. Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 1-3, Super Mario Bros 2 USA, Super Mario World 1-2, Yoshi's Story, Yoshi's New Island, New Super Mario Bros 1, 2, Wii, Wii U, Luigi U, Warioland 1-4, Super Mario Land 1-2, and Super Princess Peach. I'm probably missing some but right here are 21 "Mario" platformers and this is before you even get into the 3D stuff.

You might be right in terms of how they lump together diffrent megaman games, and others like sonic, and it would be nice if they were consistant, but there are many other games in the image that don't (to my knollage) deserve to be split up like assassins creed.

Even if you include all the spin offs and remakes/remasters for the Zelda and Metroid franchises, you only get only a small number considering the years they've been around. Yet you do hear the Zelda rehash rehash rehash crap. A non-biased image, where they split up the Megaman games and sonc games would still illustrate this.

I've never seen anyone ever say that Zelda and Metroid games are rehashes. You mostly hear that about Mario.

Lol this is stupid. You have to include all of the mario games and spinoffs and all of the zelda games and zelda spinoffs etc. Mario Kart is a mario spinoff for example.

Why is that stupid? Mario Kart is more different to Mario than  God of War is to Devil May Cry or Uncharted is to Tomb Raider.   It does not matter if the same character is there its a completely different game and offers completely different experience (not just a little bit different). Even  NSMB is more different to Mario 3D World/land than most games not being part of the same IP today.

To me it looks like this:
There is 2 groups of people.
One group that does not want every game to be an action game/shooter similar.

And then there is the other group that does not want every game no matter the genre  (fun racer. Jump n run, party "board" game, rpg) to feature the same characters.

What is more important to gaming?
Doing different things = gameplay variation  or looking at different people = character variation?

This even without sport and racing simulators

Surely you're able to see the difference between a Mario platformer and a Mario racer.

They both have Mario in it, no difference....

So what? Other developers have greatly expanded the types of games and scope of games. Nintendo is stagnant pumping out the same games every generation with a few half-assed attempts at new IPs.

Somebody hasnt played a nintendo since the NES^

This.  It's almost always Mario that people complain about rehash after rehash.  Also Pokemon with as many side games and remakes it's had.  Pokemon has long since became a yearly franchise.

For series like Metroid and many others.  You don't see people call out rehash, etc.  People have been begging for a new Metroid, a new Advance Wars, even a new Zelda.  If people are bashing Zelda right now, it's because within the time frame of four years there will have been three remakes.

Curse you Nintendo! Using the exact same karts and tracks in MK8 that were used in 3D World! Those fiends!

Battlefield, Halo, The Sims, Gran Turismo, FIFA, NHL, NBA and Madden (No reason for new editions every year just patch/DLC to update the player balance), Resident Evil and probably more franchises are getting a lot more new installments than any of nintendos IPs.

Eh, a joke just can't be a joke can it?
