Forums - Gaming - What the hell is wrong with Vgc Ps4 software tracking? (extremely overtracked in RoW)

I saw a chart some time ago showing that the publisher gets 27$ out of a 60$ retail game, Platform Royalty being 7$.

So Sony/MS should get 7$ from a third party 60$ game and 34$ form a first party 60$ game. (it only applies to retail of course)

Edit:

Prediction: End of 2015 Hardware sales (as of January 20, 2015)

Wii U: 12.1M | XBO: 19.8M | PS4: 36.0M | 3DS: 58.5M | PSV: 11.7M

Fist week sales and attachrates

Asscreed: Unity
US attachrate: 6,7%
EU attachrate: 8%
RoW attachrate 12% (double the US. very weird)

Fifa 15
US attachrate: 3,5% (plausible, because Us don't like soccer)
EU attachrate: 32.2% (plausible, because in Europe soccer is >>>>>> all)
RoW attachrate: 31.3% (what the same like Europe?)

Watchdogs
US attachrate: 19,8%
EU attachrate: 25,6%
RoW attachrate: 41,6% (lol lol lol rofl. sure)

every single big Ps4 software seller is heavily overtracked in the RoW figure
i know vgc software tracking is bad, but this bad? how can the estimates be so wrong?
plz fixx that stuff

edit:
Destiny
US attachrate: 20,1%
EU attachrate: 18,3%
Row attachrate: 32% (i laught again. biggest attachrate of all regions by far)

Keep in mind that in some RoW regions there are far less games available than in US and europe so a higher attach ratio makes sense just because of less variety. Also, soccer is the biggest sports in the world, so a high attach ratio for FIFA is to be expected anywhere in the world - except in the US, because those folks are weird. :P

That said, I don't know if the numbers are totally correct. But I won't say they are not until I can prove otherwise.

Yeah platform royalty is really low but I'm sure they get more than $7 from most third party games

Do you get paid for trying to downplay how well the PS4 is doing? Just curious cause you do it a lot. Not saying the numbers are accurate but you try to make it seem like its not doing well a lot.

Edit:

retailers do not make $15 dollars from a new game... no where close to it.

Look at the source, OnLive the cloud gaming crowd who tried to do everything to help them burn money as fast as investors could make it, I wouldn't be taking your financial breakdowns from them.

Couldn't it just be that the lower the install base, the higher the attach rates? Nah, couldn't be.

every Ps4 owner in the US bought 3,3 games
every Ps4 owner in the EU bought 3,5 games
every Ps4 owner in the RoW bought 4,3 games
*according to chartz

and what about the Xbox one and other consoles?
every Xb1 owner in the US bought 4,1 games
every Xb1 owner in the EU bought 4,2 games
every Xb1 onwer in the RoW bought just 2.7 games
*according to chartz

Yes, something is really wrong here
Why should the console with the lower overall attachrate have a way higher attachrate in RoW (even more than the average), than the console with the higher overall attachrate?
I would like to see this explained by the guy who make up the numbers.

Developing countries are not known for the biggest hardcore gamer audience, that has incredible high attachrates.
I vague remeber a date, where the Playstation software (Ps3 and Ps4) got a magically bump. The date when Cod: Ghosts for Ps3 was adjusted over the X360 version. There has the mistake to be made probably.

I hope no1 take this RoW software for serious. I mean US and EU could be right, but this RoW just can't. Even a blind person can see that and only some console warrior would denie it.
I would always take VGC software with a grain of salt. US Driveclub sales are still at 203k, while we know the NPD figures is below 68k

Fifa may be correct. In Latin America it isn't hard to see people with PS4s that have Fifa 14 and 15 and just one other game. About the others, I see two possible explanations:

- The attach rate increase with the lower install base, like we see on Wii U.

- VGC has a good tracking on US and Japan because of NDP and Media Create, but they don't have a clue of what's going on on EU. So they just split values between EU and RoW and call it a day.

Actually it makes a lot of sense, as people who bother buying consoles in ROW also buy many more gamers. In ROW casual gamers prefer PC, and hardcore gamers prefer consoles, so they buy more games on them.
