Forums - Gaming - MS Exclusive Third Party Advertising No Longer Makes Sense.

I thought this thread was gonna be about it not making sense for MS. For the developer it's easy money. They don't have to spend any money on ads (And MS probably pays them extra as well.), and it'll still sell great on the PS4 regardless.

Because Sony is about to bankrupt and have no money to pay lol

Why would a 3rd party publisher turn down that easy Microsoft ad money, when they know that despite it, the PS4 version of the game will still sell big numbers?

It makes sense for Microsoft because they have more pull with the consumer.

It makes sense for the publisher because it is essentially free advertising for the product.

So much truth in one post.

Yeah, and they lose potential sales in the process because the advertising is talking to a smaller audience. In the end taking the money could lead to sales slowing right down and eventually making the franchise unprofitable. The gaps going to grow from what it is now to 10m - 12m  - 15m - 20m until it becomes suicide to advertise to the much smaller userbase and lose ever more potential customers. It's the quickest way to kill your franchise in my opinion.

The advertising is trying to expand that smaller audience. That's the point of advertising.

I doubt someone in the verge of crashing its franchise can afford advertising. Which, at the same time, would take the money since he's getting money for it, in order to maintain what's little left of its franchise.

It matter... it could be worst without exclusive third party ads.

The point of advertising is to reach the biggest audience possible. If you focus on the smallest audience you are going to miss a lot of the larger audience. That's bad advertising. Either advertise to both equally or let the console manufacture with the biggest install base advertise it for you. Rockstar get it.

I just don't see the point in developers allowing MS to do this for much longer. It's clear from the data we're seeing now that exclusive advertising for the XB1 doesn't help sell that many more games on the XB1. In fact it still trails overall sales of the same game on the PS4. Why would a developer continue to give MS the rights when Sony can advertise the same game to an install base that's twice the size, on a system that's more popular, with more momentum, and on a sytem that can promote the best looking console version of their game? I know monay is involved but at some point common sense must kick in too, surely? To top that off, Sony are now recording higher and higher digital sales and publishers are going to want a slice of that pie.

what data shows that?
d u now how much wold be sold without marketing an how many with?

and u have to advertise ur product anyway. an comarketing with publisers is a cheap and effective way.

th only thing i see here, that does not make sense is this topic

Rockstar advertise for everyone, don't they?

Good on you I bet Microsoft done something bad to you ? You hate Microsoft that much btw saying ps4 is more popular best joke I ever heard if ps4 selling more doesn't mean it's more popular it's because people moving from PS3 to ps4 quicker than people moving from xbox 360 to Xbox one look at Third party game still selling good on Xbox 360
