Forums - Gaming - Anyone see any good reason why GTAV's(PS4/X1 editions) meta is higher than Smash U's?

: / seriously? I would like links to some vids where people are making awesome combos and playing mind tricks in this game, I want to see some frame specific combos, perfectly calculated reach attacks and stuff like that, setups and all that cool stuff, all i have seen is SSB is a bunch of people jumping around running after one another, blindly throwning punches or running away  from one another. All this with cartoonish graphics by the way.

Here is just one ofmany vids. Dont try to spin it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLuFpmoKUVQ

"All this with cartoonish graphics by the way." Terrible post, doesn't matter if a game is cartoonish or not. Fighting genre has nothing to do with how realistic/cartoonish a game looks

Yeah, I think its silly for reviewers to give the same scores to old games which just have improved graphics. Its not really fair.

How so? Does a good game suddenly become bad after a year? If all the content that got a high score in the first place is still there, then why shouldn't it get the same score?

No, but if its just the same game again with hardly any differences, then I don't think it deserves the same scores.

I've never played a good KoF player, probably because it's a shit button masher that no one plays, but as for Tekken: my brother is a decent player.  He's played a few tournaments and can beat a few lower level pros.  His buddy, a greese monkey who doesn't play video games, has beaten him 4 out of 10 matches by mashing with Lilly.  True story.

Also, I never said Melee was a "serious fighting game".

I have played KoF since 97 and have never being defeated by button mashing, and i dont remeber ever winning by trying it when i was starting, if anything KoF did not succeed becuase it was too strategic for its time, back when SF was starting KoF would let you side step, counter and run.

in Tekken if my char is a slow one and yours is a fast one and I am in a bad position is posible you could win by button mashing but a very few times, i think that once you try it the first time I would know what char to use to counter you.

The true button mashers that I have tested and succeeded are Soul caliber and Virtual fighter, becuase you have out of right K.O. and that makes it more likely.

This is a combo vid. I mean one where you show that his game involve strategy not you beating the computer, the fact that there are combos does not mean is not a button masher.

Come on tbone, you can do better than that.

I have personally played melee for years. When I played against a friend I met on Smash boards who is a tounery winner, I was helpless against him. And he was just as good on Brawl and Smash 64.

So it's clear to me that it is a highly technical game.

@tbone51 this vid is much better evidence

When you think about it, and fanboys don't take it too hard, but Smash Bros. has always had much to prove. If nothing has changed but graphics in the last 10 years, there's less to be upset about if the gameplay is "good" and might I say "good" is a relative term. That being said, it scored lower because GTA has adventure mode and Smash doesn't.

I just pulled a random video before, Sue me...  here is at evo (start at 6:30 for insane match) ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGvd_wLxwEk

Go ahead and tell me its not serious

Can't you just be grateful that it's the highest rated fighting games ever or one of them. Arguing for few extra meta points is just insane.

Because they are getting paid to give the game higher scores. Publishers have been doing this for over a decade. They pay off reviewers for favorable reviews so people buy the game. Do you really think GTA V was going to have superb sales on the "next-gen" consoles? The game is over a year old. It's old news. So if they throw in some new features like "increased resolution and graphical detail, denser traffic, greater draw distances, upgraded AI, new wildlife, and advanced weather and damage effects for the ultimate open world experience" of course people are going to buy because they are stupid.

Don't act so surprised that console gamers love paying full price for shit they played a year ago. This is how game developers make money.

Please, don't treat IGN like unsung heroes because they are waiting for online to come out to review the game. Everyone knows Smash 4's online is going to be abysmal just like Brawl. Regardless of that, don't give game reviewers the satisfaction of pissing you off. You're better than that. They're just reviews. And all reviews are is people's opinion. Look, I'll prove it to you.

http://www.metacritic.com/game/gamecube/kirby-air-ride/critic-reviews?sort-by=most-clicked&num_items=100

Anyone can cherry pick reviews. Kirby Air Ride for example is one of my favorite GameCube games of all time and it got average reviews at best. So please, do yourself a favor and ignore metacritic and IGNore IGN.

Thanks for reading. Have a nice day.

Good post, especially when This years highest rated games arent even that high overall. SSBU getting a 92-95 is great either way, and GTA5+SSB getting comparisons is a little weird for a direct head to head comparison.

SSB vs SF vs PSASBR  or GTA vs Watchdogs is more appropriate
