Forums - Gaming Discussion - Anyone see any good reason why GTAV's(PS4/X1 editions) meta is higher than Smash U's?

I deny it because its not. Sales =/= Popularity only. Unless Wii Sports franchise is more popular than GTA and Pokemon overall throughout the World?

Sales and everything else.

Eg.

Google Pokémon:  About 7,330,000 results
Google Grand Theft Auto: About 12,500,000 results

Any metric you use GTA will be more popular than Pokémon.

UsingGoogle Searches? :P

Well here's my metric.  Pokemon Centers/Stores > Not 1 GTA store

But seriously, i think this one is hard to put, i see why people think GTA is more popular but still....

Let me say this Which is more popular? LoZ or Uncharted... First of all Uncharted beats Zelda last gen in sales (Excluding HH/spin offs), by a good margin right? Does that mean its more popular? (we can go on but just pointing that out).

Then we have a game as SSB vs Halo. Both are Nintendo's (well probably 3rd/4th) and MS biggest franchises respectively. SSBB barely outsold H3, but MS also had H4/Reach released last gen, and now currently SSB 3DS+SSBU vs Halo:MCC. Which is more popular? Saleswise Halo (so far last gen+before that), but how many people play per copy?

Thats the question you need to ask yourself^ SSBM a game that sold 7mil copies, probably has over 30mil people who played the game (not counting just played once or twice). I mean SSB+MK are the kings of Local Multiplayer, especially SSB

based on facts^

State those facts! Unless you've made them up..

C'mon  really? You think im making up why pokemon is more popular the GTA for no reason? I give you a hint, MS > Nintendo in popularity. Thats because im not pointing only at video games.

What kinda answer is that? Back up your claim, don't talj about irrelevant stuff.

Didn't you see in the past post? I dont need to name everything!!! The trading card game+video games are enough alone to more popular than GTA. Do you not think anybody doesn't know wat a pikachu is??

I don't know what kind of point you are trying to make...

GTA > Polemon
Halo > SSB

You don't need to think to anwser that.

The other is more hard to tell.

I read the first page, and then the last. How in the hell did Pokemon get involved?

The answer is easy. GTA V is a better game in the reviewers eyes. It's better in my mind. Smash is great, but GTA is better. It's all a matter of opinion. And everyone has different opinions. Oh gosh, what a concept.

Let me solve this Pokemon vs. GTA dilemma, m'kay?

GTA is more popular with gamers. Its logical since it comes out on more platforms, meaning more gamers get to experience it.

Pokemon is more popular worldwide, though, and I'm not talking about gamers here. Pokemon is more recognizable, its distributed as an IP through more media platforms than GTA, so its logical that more people would recognize Pokemon. The series mascot, Pikachu, has a gigantic balloon that appears in every Macy's Thanksgiving parade; last I checked, Nico Belic still hasn't gotten his own blood spattered parade balloon.
