Forums - Gaming - Anyone see any good reason why GTAV's(PS4/X1 editions) meta is higher than Smash U's?

93s a great score and I really don't think you can compare it to GTAVs score. They are different games in different genres, and get reviewed differently. Meta score is barely relevant when comapring games so different.

It's not even relevant when comparing games of the same genre because of unfair biases.

Is LIttle Big Planet 3 really that much worse than Little Big Planet 2? Somehow I doubt it.

Everything i posted was accurate and on point, your retort however...

Lmao, your arguments are beyond stupid.

Personal insults such as this are the hallmark of a weak argument, and against forum rules, this will be reported.

First of all, metacritic user scores for Nintendo games are often very accurate (the average of them I mean). Second of all, did you even read anything in this thread? It's not about whether or not GTA is a better game or not than SSB, it's about remakes of one year old games scoring higher.

There is nothing special about "nintendo" user scores, all games on all systems suffer from artifically high and artifically low reviews, don't act like they don't.

Third of all, did you read some of the metaceritic "professional" reviews? Some of them are more laughable than the user reviews! Hence why there's currently a popular meme in existence about games having too much water.

A popular meme spawned off of a single review, and what of the other 30+? a single reviewers impact to the overall meta is very low.

And story in a Zelda game? Have you ever even played a single Zelda game? No one cares about the story, it's practically non-existant. There's a thing called watching/reading reviews and let's plays of games. I don't need to have played GTA V to know what the story is about. Just like I don't need to have played Sonic 06 to know how horrible that story is.

I'm the type of person to read the dialog of a game and explore it to exhaustion, if you think Zelda games lack story you are clearly the skip all text and cutscene and sprint to the endgame type, that's your fault not mine.

Clearly the people actually playing DK: TF enjoyed it more than the critics, so what does that tell you about these so called "professional" reviews who's opinion you seem to think are facts? Just because a game has a higher score on metacritic doesn't mean the gaming community thinks  the same. When the difference is as small as 2-3% it matters even less.

And clearly there are people who bought DK:TF and hated it since used copies were up on ebay litterally the next day, and have been since, that however, just like instances of people "enjoying it" is simply a case by case occurance, just like "well my friend is buying x console" or "well my local store sold out of y console", its isolated, and not representitive of the larger userbase/populace.

There's a huge difference between what critics think of a game and what the average gaming community thinks of something. Critics can be bought off as well which reflects a lot of metacritic review scores.

Just as likely as critics being bought of, infact more so, is the supporters of a game being overly biased towards it or the particular system it is on, and if you frequent Nintendo fansites/forums that effect will be even more pronounced, again, you will see things based on the situations you place yourself in, that isnt reflective of the general populace.

I don't care if people think GTA V is better than SSB4, that's a perfectly ok opinion to have. And since I haven't played both games how can I comment on it? What I find ridiculous is a one year old remake getting such high reviews. Why on earth would I want a remake of Super Mario 3D World for example? The game came out a year ago.

Clearly you do care enough to be so offended by it, as to be overly critical about it purely based on it being "a year old game", wether its a year old game or a ten year old game, the fact of the matter is, enough effort, changes and upgrades were made for it to be seen as a worthwhile purchase and has been scored as such.

The game offers more on every level and that is simply the reason for the high score.

I like how he ignored your first point basically or didn't understand it.

I saw a post earlier in this thread stating that it makes sense that GTA 5 got such good scores.  I mean only a year ago it got 9.? and this improved upon that game, so obviously it should get a 9.? due to that.

Clearly this argument is slapping IGN in the face.  How did they give OR/AS such a pitiful score.  You listed before all the HUGE changes made to the game, not the paltry changes made to GTA5, but HUGE changes since their remake.  Yet it dropped a whole 2 points in score.  And no you can't say becuase the game mechanics or whatever suck, cause clearly you were fine with them in X/Y when that came out not too long ago.  So how did this remake get docked 2 points, yet GTA5 stayed the same or raised.

I'm so sick of games around a year old gettting remade and getting such praise.  Personally I think that games being remaked or ported within a year or 2 should not even warrant a review.  They should just copy/paste the prior review and say "it's now available on this system"  Put a little * on the bottom listed anything new.  The only thing worth noting is if a game has glaring faults that make it uplayable.  If it has better fps, or better resolution, ect that means shit.  Any bonus those things would add should be deducted due to essentially delaying the game for a year.

Little big planets always had some average platforming gameplay hidden behind the level creators. IMO up until now it's received inflated scores because of how good the creation content has been. At this point I feel reviewers aren't wowed by the creation tools for the 5th time, couple that with them being harsher in general with scores and id assume thats why the third one has such a lowered socre.

However im yet to find anyone who really enjoyed GTA4 and thats meta is off the charts, so yeah, it can be difficult to take a meta as gospel.

I didn't call you stupid, I called your arguments stupid. That's not a personal attack, so reporting me for that is pathetic (though on this site you can get banned for less I suppose). Reporting me is what I call a true hallmark of a weak argument.

"There is nothing special about "nintendo" user scores, all games on all systems suffer from artifically high and artifically low reviews, don't act like they don't."

Artificially high scores cancel out the artificially low scores. What's your point? There's a big difference between the user scores of Nintendo games and the user scores of the other consoles. A lot of high profile games on the PS4 or XBONE have average user scores of 3.9 or something. It's hard to take those serious as I don't believe even COD games are that bad.

"A popular meme spawned off of a single review, and what of the other 30+? a single reviewers impact to the overall meta is very low."

That was just one example, you're not seriously expexting me to comment on every review individually are you?

"I'm the type of person to read the dialog of a game and explore it to exhaustion, if you think Zelda games lack story you are clearly the skip all text and cutscene and sprint to the endgame type, that's your fault not mine."

Eh, I read everything. The story in Zelda games is nothing special, it's just there as an excuse to solve dungeons and defeat enemies. Haven't played Majora's Mask though, I heard that game is different and has interesting side stories and great characters.

"And clearly there are people who bought DK:TF and hated it since used copies were up on ebay litterally the next day, and have been since, that however, just like instances of people "enjoying it" is simply a case by case occurance, just like "well my friend is buying x console" or "well my local store sold out of y console", its isolated, and not representitive of the larger userbase/populace."

Every game has used copies on ebay, you're making no sense at all. Clearly the majority of those who bought the game loved it. I could easily prove this by making a thread here asking what they thought of the game. I'm also in no way denying that the majority of the gamers who played GTA V and The Last of Us loved it. This is purely about the one year old remakes as far as I'm concerned, NOT the original games.

"Clearly you do care enough to be so offended by it, as to be overly critical about it purely based on it being "a year old game", wether its a year old game or a ten year old game, the fact of the matter is, enough effort, changes and upgrades were made for it to be seen as a worthwhile purchase and has been scored as such."

I'm not offended by the original GTA V having a higher score than SSB4. Try again.

Both the last gen and current gen versions scored higher, and this isn't even really a re-release, simply a delayed next gen version.

Yes it is. You learn something new everyday

Those delayed ports all got far lower scores on the Wii U though, like Batman: Arkham City armoured edition. Besides the ugly graphics (which the original versions also had I think?) and some framerate problems I found the game to be an absolute blast.

But I haven't played the original Batman: Arkham City, so maybe I'm missing something here?

Nah if it was I would have never traded it in towards Hyrule Warriors a few months ago.
