Smash by contrast is more concentrated on competitive gamers and longtime Nintendo fans in the 20-40 age range.

It's my analysis based on social trends, marketing, game content, real life and online consumer observations, gaming culture.

One only strength is nostalgia.
The other is the most outstanding achievement in game  to this day (peharps only rivaled by Last of us) and the most expensive game also which carters to a much bigger audience.

Oh, and is also a infinitely better game also.
