Forums - Gaming - If certain consoles can't acheive 1080p now, what happens in a couple years?

I don't want to get banned so I will not mention any consoles. Will multiplats be affected? I would hate to see games be limited because of one console or the other. How does this play out? Will COD 2020 look like COD 2015?

Only certain consoles? Thus far, all three major consoles haven't been able to achieve 1080P constantly or consistently across every single title.

However, I predict that as the generation progress's, 1080P will be an exception, rather than the rule, regardless of any particular system that you baught into.
It's simply one of the easiest places to reduce in order to bolster a games fidelity in other areas, resulting in overall better image quality.
And yes, image quality *must* constantly increase, consumers pretty much demand it, companies also advertise it.

If you wan't 1080P/60fps or better (Like 1440P/144fps) across all titles then there is only one platform that can achieve it.

Developers actually have to think creative for once and instead of relying only on horse power and polygon count, they have to try to impress in other ways such as great art direction, strong focus on gameplay and great story telling! Those that can't will suffer and potentially go bankrupt as games with superior art direct will roll all over them, those that already do or can do will continue to go their own creative ways!

Well not to be rude but you would say that. You can see by your dp that you like certain graphic styles.

Just because devs are not cating to your "style" does not mean they dont have an art style. An art style can be a huge range. Who are you to say whats a style and what is not?

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Anyone who cares about graphics owns a PC not a console. Its not worth their time optimizing console games cause its a waste of budget to go too far out of the way to make a few whiney bitches happy. Console owners know by buying weak unified hardware that they are paying for ease of use and not graphics.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Puny 1440Px144fps.  There is only one platform to consider if you want the ultimate power.

My 8th gen collection

I think graphics will improve with the time ,  i can afford even playing 720p with my 50" inch tv because it is 3 meters away from me.

If you make me play 720p on pc monitor it annoys me. :P

I dunno, maybe one version will be 1080p and other will be somewhere around... 900p?

CoD 2020 will be sub-hd on all platforms to maintain 60 fps.

Im certain the games will still be fun. I see what you're trying to do though. Nice attempt. Name a game that was unplayable from having less graphics this generation. No game has been broken because one was 1080 and the other not.

Isn't it obvious? While the X1 and PS4 struggle to reach 1080p, let alone run anything at 60FPS, the WiiU will continue to improve until it starts providing 4k resolutions running at 120FPS. Given the current trend, I expect this to occur somewhere around Zelda U as the growth is impossible to ignore:

Pikmin 3 (720/30) -> 3DWorld/MK8/Toad/Splatoon (720/60) -> Smash (1080/60) -> some extrapolation -> Zelda U (4k, 120)

Now, how this is happening? I'm not quite sure, but I suspect that Iwata has hired an army of Pikmin that work by night and upgrade our WiiU's while we sleep.

I think the whole industry will collapse, because some titles might be 900p titles upscaled to 1080p. As a logical result, Nintendo will go out of business, Sony will die entirely and MS will sell the Xbox once and for all.

All gamers will move on and play MMOs on their smartphones.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

No one (apart from a person that may or may not buy their games of course) but I am just saying that instead of trying to bruteforce everything, developers will have to think of other ways to impress people with graphics

Not every game has to look like anime or "colorful" to impress me and I do praise a lot of games that don't look like anime or "colorful" but has awesome art style that can impress people anyway

Oh and please don't be so quick to assume things based on people's Display Picture... Yes, I love anime/colorful graphics but that doesn't mean anime/colorful art style is all I like... One of the reasons I upgraded my PC to a 970 (and will upgrade a few more things) is so that I can play games like the Witcher 3 (and many others) which has great art style and it obviously doesn't look like anime
