I feel like you and everybody else in this thread didn't actually read the review, but skipped to the end to see the score.  If you read the review you would know that his complaint about water is primarily about the over abundance of water type Pokemon.

Surely they didn't change the Pokémon you encounter from the originals though, no? Whenever I played gen 3 on the GBA I never had this "over abundance of water types" problem, really. It felt just like any Pokémon game.

If that's one of the things that detract from the quality, then why not? It's not like they haven't changed anything from the original releases.

What a flop

Just kidding. Another reason not to take reviews too seriously. This one got lowered because of Water type Pokemon...

Come on Rainy. You're better than this. Please read the entire review, and you'll se why he actually deducted points from the score. Doesn't seem like many in this thread have actually read the review, and are more eager on just jumping on the IGN hate bandwagon.

I understand the criticisms the reviewer is making as it was an issue even when the originals first came out, though I highly doubt it's going to affect my enjoyment of the game all that much.

So too many water pokemon in battles, and the fact that navigating water is dull and tedious. Are YOU freaking kidding me? Ignore all the points and taking it out of context is what you're doing.

If moving in water is boring and sucks, then they should've either

a)Had less areas were you have to move in water
or preferably
b)Making it interesting/less tedious to move in water

BTW the score is now 7.8 The 6.8 was probably a typo.

Anyone who plays Pokémon knows what a repel is. And they actually changed so much from the original surfing, where you just sat on a random black thing. Some Pokémon even show up when you surf, not a random black thing.

Are you freaking kidding me? It's a tropical setting, of course there's gonna be more water. What about Wind Waker HD? That had way more water than Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and you guys (IGN) gave it a 9.8!

Think of the 6 as being upside down!

The 8 as well....oh wait..

Tilt it 90 degrees and you've got 9.∞ , which is as good as a 10.

I edited it to "water type Pokemon" if that's any better

I just don't care about the game enough to read about it myself. I assumed I could trust Chris's opinion. I guess I'll go read the review & get back to you then. Either way, reviews have been annoying lately with the whole "let's criticize everything just to do it".

Yeesh, kinda afraid for the Smash Bros. Wii U review.

- Too much fighting
- Too many characters
- Too many stages
- Too many modes

On a serious note, kinda unexpected after they rated the original so highly.

I'm just wondering why I can't understand your point in any of your posts in this thread. I wish I could, then I could at least attempt to make a proper reply. I don't get it, are you on the reviewer's side or on our side?

Changing (or not) the original isn't necessarily a bad thing - I mentioned it because I believe the Pokémon you encounter haven't been changed, and if they haven't been changed then the water-type issue isn't that great since it wasn't in the original.

I'm not on anyone's "side". I'm just pointing out that if you've actually read the review then it's obvious that his complaint isn't that there's too much water, unlike what many claim in this thread. His complaint is that there's an abundance of water type pokemon, which takes away variety from the battles, as well as the fact that it's really tedious and not fun to move in the water. Wether those complaints are justified or not, I can't say, as I have played neither OR/AS nor the original games. That doesn't change the fact that the people in this thread are ignoring what is real complaint is, and have twisted it to something that sounds much more like a stupid reason than what it actually is.

I hope I managed to explain myself now
