I bet (and pray) for that.. I mean look at the others.. VR are comming.. and the only company ever to make a VR product for the public.. have been working on it last +15 years.. and hold a lot of patents.. and took over sega VR department (and patents) are Nintendo..

(back in 2006.. the also said that the "wii" name would make sence when we knew the full picture)

And if they did that.. And made a true Nintendo VR console.. (and did proper pr).. the "wii" name would not be confusing.. but rather a value..

I think Nintendo is still too haunted by how the Virtual Boy went down to consider banking that heavily on VR.

Virtual boy is not VR.. more like a toy (you do know they also made a lot of toys back then) but offcourse like i said.. It was first the product on the marked using some of the "VR" tecnics..

Nintendo knew that a (lets say) 5000% VR set was not some they could put on marked..

(Nintendo did know true VR at the time.. We all did.. I tryed perfect 2 player VR in a game with snes like grafic 18 years ago.. (and i'm from denmark.. us and japan had even longer)

Point is.. Nintendo had all reason to follow and study.. All with a litle imagination could see this would be the next big thing..

And think of this.... For VR you need..

A wireless motion/gyro controller

A Wireless "lagless" gyrocontrolled second screen

And a "board" that measure "movement" "weight" "ballance" could come in much handy

And who already has a VR app.. Wii-U (the streetwiev app)

I'd wait until the PS5 released and call the next Nintendo the NES-7. This is Nintendo's 7th home console after all, and it would make the PS5 sound so inferior....

Also I hate the name of New N64. N64 was THE CONSOLE that began to make Nintendo rely on their childish image. I love the system, but calling something 64 again would be as silly as calling a 2nd system a 360, or a 3rd system a 1....

I remember back when a product had the number '2000' at the end of it - it would sound completely bad ass.
The Super Soaker 2000!

Wild speculation!

A micro-console (digital only, plays Nintendo games up to Wii/3DS) called the Stream.

A portable called the Nintendo Pond.

And a home console called the Nintendo Lake.

Some level of interopability between all three, obviously.

Or go for space themed names, like mid-90s Sega.

Home console: Nintendo Jupiter

Portable: Nintendo Io

Micro-console: Nintendo Ganymede

(They can't use Europa because they'd be accused of bias by outraged North American gamers, obviously).
