on this last quarterly sony broke out ps4 for that quater and the one before it.  with the shippment announcement wrt to march that was all we needed to nail the ps4 down.  13.5 is their previous quarter shippments.  one would hope they've shipped at least a couple units in october/november.

Looking back at the financial reports that does seem to be the case. Seems very unlikely that they haven't shipped anything since then!

Wasn't that for the end of September though? They are probably at 15-16M now, no small accomplishment in a year!

it will be confusing to the general public but closing this thread won't change that.   sony didn't do themselves any favors by releasing this two days after xbox's press release.

They won't give new shipment numbers until the next quarterly report. 13.5m was 1 financial year (4 quarters) but not quite 1 calendar year (middle of Nov to end of Sept)

Yeah, kind of a weird statement, they should've added shipments for October as well. People will probably think Sony shipped 13.5m and MS 10m their respective first year, which is quite far from the truth.

That's true. They really like using their own outdated numbers sometimes (like the 13.5m, 7.9m subscribers etc.). We knew all of this way back when

The 1 billion hours played online on PS4 is a more impressive stat, as 5 million PS4 owners don't have PS Plus subscriptions.

It also generated the most revenue for the U.S.. More then any other console ever.
