the ms number included silver accounts (aka non-paying, no online).    ps+ is equivilant to live gold which was never that big.  i'm not sure we ever got an exact number but the ~20M or so was a widely accepted approximation.

the ps+ number is pretty good.

48m was Xbox Live silver. Not gold. 1/3 of silver user are gold subscriber (note, that this are only outdated numbers before Xbox One launch and gold  not even an offical statement)

Technically this isn't a financial report though. Its just a small tidbit of information celebrating one year of PS4 mostly using information they hd released over the past 2 months.

IMO it's actually a good thing. Too much focus on online games these days, with plenty of people still happy to play single player we should still get some great single player games

I do enjoy mostly single player games, but psplus "free" games + online play should make it a must buy, even for people who do not play mostly online IMO

But if you don't play online, then those games are not exactly free. I prefer to purchase the games I want to being given the games I don't want.

That's the whole point, i got to like games i wouldn't have purchased otherwise. I usually mostly play J-RPGs, but with that i got to enjoy many other genres, get interested in series i didn't know i could even like, etc

I think that's the most interesting thing about these deals, like getting borderlands for "free", trying this while being like "i don't know, i'm not into this modern shooting stuff" and end up buying the second.
