Remake is better than remaster. Halo mcc & WWHD

I have no feelings towards remasters.

If it's a game that I liked playing before, I'll buy it again.
If it's a game I skipped out on before, but would like to play it, I'll buy it.
If it's a game that I didn't like, or don't care for playing, I will not buy it.

Some games, like the Panzer Dragoon series on Saturn, would be perfect with updated graphics on X1/PS4/WiiU. Those are worthy remakes.

I don't understand why anybody would hate remakes/remasters. I mean, what are the possible scenarios?

A) It's a game you want to play, but couldn't before because you don't own the console it was originally on or the game is hard to come by. (for me: Sly Trilogy or Tales of Symphonia for PS3) Result: good

B) It's a game you already played and didn't like. Why would you care if there's a remake or not? (for me: uhm... can't think of a suitable example) Result: don't care

C) It's game you already played and loved. Now there is an improved version on a more modern console. If you think the improvements are worth it, you have the option to buy it - if not, no harm done. (for me: Final Fantasy X HD Remaster) Result: good or don't care

D) It's a game you haven't played and don't want to play either.  Why would you care if there's a remake or not? (for me: Tomb Raider or TLOU)  Result: don't care

I just don't see how remaking a game is bad in any way.

I guess the only bad thing would be, if you're looking forward to a remake of a game you like and they somehow ruin it with bugs or changing a gameplay mechanic you enjoyed. That's however a problem with a specific remake and not a general problem with the idea of remaking/remastering a game.

I love them. In some cases they give me the opportunity to play great games if I've never played them before. If I already did play the game then I don't think it causes me any harm for them to release a remaster.

What did you want them to do? Recreate the entire experience, gameplay mechanics, etc.. and give it away for free?

Nobody is forcing you to buy it and knowing RockStar, it isn't as if you could have expected a new game from them this year anyways.

Nah, I'd rather they just didn't do anything. GTA V came out last year, no one needs a remaster.
I'm still waiting for a San Andreas remake, nowadays it's pretty much the only GTA game I care about anyway.

EDIT: Also just saying, the last two options in the poll are the same.

I do. It came out so late last gen that I skipped it. I'm really happy it's releasing on current gen.

I like both. I prefer remakes, but remasters are good as long as I haven't bought the original version yet. I'm holding off on buying some games on my PS3 just so I can get them on the PS4 I'll eventually get
