I don't understand why anybody would hate remakes/remasters. I mean, what are the possible scenarios?

A) It's a game you want to play, but couldn't before because you don't own the console it was originally on or the game is hard to come by. (for me: Sly Trilogy or Tales of Symphonia for PS3) Result: good

B) It's a game you already played and didn't like. Why would you care if there's a remake or not? (for me: uhm... can't think of a suitable example) Result: don't care

C) It's game you already played and loved. Now there is an improved version on a more modern console. If you think the improvements are worth it, you have the option to buy it - if not, no harm done. (for me: Final Fantasy X HD Remaster) Result: good or don't care

D) It's a game you haven't played and don't want to play either.  Why would you care if there's a remake or not? (for me: Tomb Raider or TLOU)  Result: don't care

I just don't see how remaking a game is bad in any way.

I guess the only bad thing would be, if you're looking forward to a remake of a game you like and they somehow ruin it with bugs or changing a gameplay mechanic you enjoyed. That's however a problem with a specific remake and not a general problem with the idea of remaking/remastering a game.
