Simple question. Do you love or hate remasters?

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

The question is, what's there to hate?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I can take them or leave them. It depends entirely on which game it is.

The PS5 Exists.

I'm fine with them, especially the older the game is. No one is forcing you to buy them, and it gives people who never played the original a chance to see what the hype is about. There are a bunch of games out there I'd like to play, but never will because the original cartridge/disc is too expensive or inconvenient to hunt down. And there are a bunch of games I kinda want to play again, but would be more amped to plug back in if they had more modern controls/features/gameplay.

I hate that Secret of Mana hasn't been remastered with online co-op.

Depends on the remaster... If its like MCC or WWHD, then yes, I love them but if its like The Last of Us or Tomb Raider then not really

Both.

I mean, I hate stuff like GTA V, TLOUR, Tomb Raider (etc) because they're just cash-ins for recent games. I like remakes/remasters when they're made with some care and set out to really improve an older game that hasn't aged that well.

If we're talking exclusively remaster though (not remakes), it's a lot harder. But still, I can accept them when they significantly improve on an old title.

GTAV (2014 version) at least completely changed the way the game can be played. I had zero interest in the game last year, but the first-person mode will cause me to finally give the game a chance.

As for the question in the OP. I do not love them and I do not hate them. They are games, and for that I welcome them.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

What's to hate about them. If you haven't played the game and there is a newer version that has improved in some way you can pick it up. If you loved the game already and want to play it again with a fresh coat of paint you pick it up. If neither of those things apply you do not pick it up. Seems pretty simple to me.

Being as I'm not required to buy them, there isn't anything to hate. If customers are buying them, publishers would be stupid not to sell them. The customers are the cause of remasters.

Now, would I prefer developer resources to be spent on new material? Absolutely. On the flip side, I haven't played Last of Us or Tomb Raider very much and when the price gets to the right point I'll probably grab them.

Will have to go with both. Hate them when is of a game I have played. love them when its of a game I haven't. Yh i am selfish
