I'm getting a Jet Force Gemini vibe from it.

Just looked up youtube videos of it, and I could see the similarity from the image description alone. Neat

I wonder if any Jet Force fans are excited about this then?

Well, I've beaten Jet Force Gemini 100% and I'm excited as hell for Splatoon, especially after seeing the single player gameplay. EDIT* A well done and well made Jet Force Gemini 2 is the [only exclusive game] that will make me buy a Xbox One.

It reminds me more of something like Spyborgs or Mushroom Wars (with a lot more polish and better base ideas) with music reminding me of more wacky Bit.Trip Runner stuff (and a bit of Bit.Trip Runner 2's art style)

Eh no, splatoon is no match for portal.

These may be the only 2 FPS actually trying to be unique, so yeah, kind of the same vibe.

Splatoon is especially unique because it's an FPS in third person perspective.

I'm loving this new TPFPS shooter genre

Splatoon is obviously a third person shooter. Why are some people calling it a fps/tps? Is this some meme?

It kinda reminds me of Epic Mickey! That's definitely not a bad thing though!

well it means good news, while i never played portal due to FPS a genre that put on last to play, third person shooter like this is better choice for me especially colorful and bright world like Super Mario 3D.

There certainly seems to be a lot of things going on apart from the whole "painting and squiding"! Everytime I see this game, I am getting more and more interested, I hope they show more of it

You probably just want to shot your load at all different kinds of things amirite? ;)

Anyways since the game has a non gang-bang mode now too  It went from "meh I dont care about PVP" to "hmm interesting"

I'm excited for the game in general.

But kind of disappointed with the single player mode. I was getting a Mario Sunshine vibe at E3, and wanted a beautiful tropical feel to the story mode, so I'm feeling a little down on the floating islands platforming.

I also dislike that octopus are the villains. Everyone knows that octopus are the superior cephalopods, this is nonsense.

But for realsies, I had a strong idea of what I expected SP to look like (I was thinking Isle Delfino meets Jet Set Radio) and it's not what it is. So I need to get over my own idea to see the actuality with clarity and get happy again.

On a positive note: how good does that muddy swamp level look? Can't wait to get online with this.
