you saound like ubisofts PR, wich needs no further explanation.

Ubisoft was being honest. And its not just Ubisoft, many publishers have given up on Wii U. That's evident just by looking at the Wii U's remaining holiday lineup.

Wii U owners should be thankful for Watch Dogs, even if its late. It atleast adds some variety to that library.

Ubisoft was being pathetic, there's no way around it. and no one should be gratefull for a six month delay + direct insult towards de userbase.

why they put the game on wii u, baffles me. maybe if it was mario dogs I would understand but this game had no hope from the get go

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

The wii u is weak hardware and no pretending that every wii u game is unoptimised changes that. It's strength is in its graphic's system compared to ps3/360 but in cpu terms it is even weaker. If a game exists on ps3, 360 and wii u it's likely to be inferior on wii u unless its a racing game or a 2D game with low cpu requirements. I'm happy with this as I love the wii u exclusive games but it's pointless buying a wii u version of most non exclusive third party games unless the price is cheaper or they add value like additional gamepad functionality.

If a game is built from the ground up for systems of a different architecture, of course it won't be optimized for Wii U.

That in a nutshell is the problem. Clearly you don't understand what optimisation is. It's not about different architecture its about maximising performance from the hardware. The wii u has a more modern gpu architecture which is easier to develop for. It's not super powerful but at least has some advantages over ps3 and 360. The cpu is well understood, its a very old architecture from the last century run at 1.25ghz. There are 3 cores and its only 32bit. There is no multi-threading. The idea that somehow there is a problem developing for this when the ps3 for example has a dual thread power pc core with 7 minor support processors to develop for is nonsense.  The wii u is even easier to develop for than 360, why wouldn't it be as 360 is far more reliant on assistance from its cpu to aid the gpu but again the 360 has 3 cpu cores at 3.2ghz and each has two threads. Nintendo clearly designed the wii u to be very easy to develop for. The wii u was never designed to be next gen. It has less memory bandwidth than ps3 or 360.

The issue is that Nintendo released a console at the end of 2012 that wasn't capable of matching 360 and ps3 in many areas of performance let alone compete with ps4 and xbone.

I don't think its fair to criticise third party software companies because they can't produce decent ports on weak hardware and I don't think its fair to criticise consumers for not bothering to buy wii u third party games when they are inferior.  Sadly the wii u is all about exclusive games and games that have low cpu resources.

Instead of saying wii u port is un-optimised we should be saying wii u is not capable of running this software well due to low cpu resources. Like the old snes the wii u design is weighted more to gpu performance than cpu performance and means many mainstream games will not run well on it. It's likely  developers have been working really hard to get around the wii u weaknesses and have failed simply because the performance was never there even after full optimisation.

Wii U's hardware is different from PS3 and 360. If you write your code around the hardware of the latter, it won't be the best match for the former.

This holds true for any system, which is why it's always exclusives that push a system the furthest, not multiplats.

To max out the Wii U, you'd need to build a game from the ground up to take maximum advantage of every component and the interfaces between these components. You'd need to invest considerable resources in the engine and technology. Nobody's really done that on Wii U.

Any Wii U multiplat that does feature at least enhanced assets over PS3/360 is a smoking gun of lazy development, because Need for Speed has proven bandwidth is not an obstruction to this.

I don't see a reason why anyone would buy this game. Even on PS4 the visuals are very poor and it had some frame rate drops. They didn't utilize the gamepad, which they could have easily been done if they took the time to do it. I mean..seriously, it's a hacking game and you have a secondary touchscreen device to control the game with. This game would have been the perfect game to take advantage of the gamepad and what do we get?.....A map and a hub. Not only that, it's been on other platforms for 6 months now and I have seen it as low as $30 new. Now they will release it on the Wii U at $60 and it will sell terribly, like it should.

Should have made it cheaper. Doesn't look too bad though, wonder what extra features it will bring?

A map on the bottom screen on the gamepad.

only a handfull of tittles from a select number of publishers are million sellers on ps4 and x1.

support didn't went away because it never existed. and it never existed because of bias.

The X1 and PS4 userbase is growing rapidly and there will be more million sellers on those platforms. While the Wii U doesn't have any 3rd party million sellers, not even CoD achieved it.

Support existed, but Wii U owners ignored them. Games like CoD, ACIV, Deus Ex, Batman Arkham series, Injustice, and Splinter Cell Blacklist are quality titles. If the only console I had was Wii U I would have bought all of them. But instead they went ignored.

Watch Dogs may be late, but its still a notable title for Wii U this holiday. Ubisoft saw little demand for their games on Wii U, so no point in wasting resources on that platform.

the x1 base isnt growing fast. their number of million sellers multis isn't relevant (especially when they are all from a few select publishers). you say "not even" cod, as if that game were a parameter. and many multis did better than cod on wii u.

cod is an okayish example. AC and Batman had huge declines even on ps360, wich shows the general audience didn't like the latest installments. deus ex was a late port costing $50 while rereleased for ps360 at the same time for $30. injustice, okay. splinter sell sold bad even on ps360. and most of them sld good enough, given the circunstances.

so, what do we have here: a few examples where the game sold less on wii u, period, and others that had too much going against them to have a fair chance of selling. in the end, if x game didn't sell well on wii u, it means that x game didn't sell well on wii u. it doesn't make any sence to use a few bad examples to generalize that all multis do bad on wii u. and that's while ignoring the ones that did well.

finally, MOST COMPANIES never released a single game on wii u, that's inexistent support.

because it´s a risk to develop for a new plattform, they waited to see if it would perform good and because it didn´t they concentrated more on platforms where they have better sales, this industry is about money and why should they support a platfrom where they cant make money?

Ironically if all third parties "wait and see", they actively contribute to a negative feedback loop for the platform, whereas if they all take a risk at the platform's launch, they contribute to a positive feedback loop.
