Nope, the eShops are region locked as well as retail games.

Even the card codes? Well that needs to change.

500GB for next gen(!) is really low. |
That wouldn't be much compared to last gen increase (4->50GB). Though I can't see how game could weight more without going 4k

I would agree with you regarding third party games (specially FF games or MGS), but we're talking about a Nintendo console that will live mostly by Nintendo games.
I really, really doubt we'll see next gen a Nintendo game that need more than 50GB.
Please excuse my bad English.
Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070
Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB
Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

4GB wasn't the limit during the 6th gen though. Grandia 3 was 7GB on PS2. (there might be even bigger games)
Biggest 7th gen game is FFXIII (on PS3) AFAIK with 42GB. That's still bigger than the average 8th gen game.

Well Smash Wii was one of the biggest Wii games, let's see how big the WiiU one is gonna be.
Zelda U might give another hint.
Bayonetta 1+2 is over 32GB.
Doesn't look impossible to me.

Personally speaking if Nintendo did make most of those changes, I would purchase nearly everything digitally on both my Wii U and 3DS. I love the digital download systems on Steam and on my Playstation devices, and I would not mind transitioning away from disks (they are noisy and highly prone to damage) on my Nintendo systems as well. Also, your games are now tied with your NNID, the problem is that your NNID can only be used on one portable and one console at a time, but if you call Nintendo and give them your NNID they will tell you all of the digital games you purchased with that account (with the exception of Wiiware purchased on Wii Shop Channel on both Wii and Wii U and DSiWare purchased on DSi Shop on the DSi).

Wasn't UC3 with all updates more than 50 GB ?
Also most AAA games in late gen were 30-40GB while late 6th gen was 5-6GB

Yeah, consoles maybe have one more generation MAX with physical discs then thats it, download only.
Or the alternative like i saw when looking at PC games in a bricks & mortar store the other day - just an empty game box with a steam code inside.Pretty dumb if you ask me.
