Not sure why an article from January is being brought up now...
anyways, I think option 1 is the top three reasons. Any others are distant fours and fives. The treatment of the console by Sony goes hand in hand with that...

1 ("no killer games") is spot on, but replace 2 and 3 with "overpriced proprietary memory cards".
No GTA and MH pretty much meant it was dead in both the West and Japan. Impressed that it's holding on somewhat in Japan.
When I compare my Vita with my 3DSXL, I just think the 3DS is more appealing. And it has a way bigger catalog of appealing games. I really do like the Vita. I love powerful it is, but the majority of the games don't do the hardware justice. I've played most of the games I got the Vita to play in the first place, and I think it was worth it. But now the lineup of upcoming Vita games is...
It's pathetic. I had to say it. Sony isn't giving me a reason to continue owning a Vita. It's also deterring others from buying a Vita. Multiplats are nice, but they don't give me that essential feeling of "I couldn't have this experience anywhere else but the Vita."
Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash
People keep mentioning the overpriced proprietary memory cards, but I really don't think that's a problem. Consumer ignorance usually leads to things like that being swept under the rug, a lot like the original 360's lack of a wi-fi adapter.

PSP came with a 32mb memory card and to get a 1gb you should had spent 200$ to by one but it didn't stop psp from selling
PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m
Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m
I got the answer that no one wants to admit, I got the answer that every says isn't true: mobile.
3DS sales this past quarter?
820,000
PSP/Vita sales this past quarter?
750,000 (Considering PSP stopped production, I don't think many of those are PSPs).
So if the 3DS is selling super amazing, so's the Vita. The Vita isn't, thus the 3DS isn't. Which means the dedicated handheld market isn't selling well. Does the 3DS have "no gaemz"? No, it does, just like the Vita. They both have a very fantastic library. Is the Vita less appealing as hardware? God no. That's just horse shit. Comparing the two hardware vs hardware, Vita wins hands down (Two analogue sticks over 3D any day plus the extra processing power). So what is the problem? cellphones. I have no idea why everyone denies this.

It's a fantastic piece of hardware that has several gems. Such a shame that Sony has almost abandoned the console. If it were a little cheaper and had a clear identity then it might have done better.
