The thing is: the reason Nintendo will launch the New 3DS is to hold up until the Wii U finishes its lifecycle, so they can launch the successor of the home console and handheld at the same time.

It should be as powerful as any Tablet... and should ACTUALLY BE a Tablet!

You don't think making a next gen system less powerful than the current gen Vita would earn them stigma in the eyes of the hardcore? 3DS was at least more powerful than the PSP. Gaming journalism would have a field day about the "underpowered piece of crap" 4DS.
Similar to the PSV. I am hoping for a 720p screen. I have an ascendP6 and the screen is godly.

Is a good idea like I said I am a nintendo fan I like them, but handheld will die soon, and this is a good or at least temporary solution, the device can be a tablet or phone like or being multiple device with a service to stram or download Nintendo games, the only downside that I see of being a Smarphone is that people remplace them really quickly. I say the Donwload Service sounds better, I know nintendo makes profit from hardware, but games being on multiple device will make them more profit. They really have to come with an idea to rescue the market.

I'm guessing 2 screens, about as powerful as the Xbox 360, cheap, actually that's not a guess that is just me hoping they don't go too crazy with the idea (Wii, Wii U, that fusion thing people talk about, etc)

I'd go with what you say. Somewhere between Vita & Wii U. Similar to iPhone 5 ~ 5S specs.

It will be more powerful than 6 gameboys taped together....with all the batteries included! Actually, it will probably be as close as technically possible to the Wii U. With what Iwata has stated in the past I'm sure the next handheld and console will be very similar to the Wii U's architecture with the former being a little less powerful and the latter being anyone's guess when it comes to specs.
"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."

This is already true and has been true for the entirety of the 3DS's life. Gaming handhelds were never seen as an "essential" purchase. They are a luxury product when priced too high and a toy when priced low enough. Americans love to buy expensive things they don't need, so just because most people own a smart phone already doesn't mean none of them will want to buy a dedicated handheld -- as proven by the 3DS, which has sold more consoles in any single region than the Vita has sold globally. I have not seen any major change in the market within the past ten minutes which would convince me that Nintendo's next handheld will sell one-fourth what the 3DS has managed. |
Has he said that it'll sell one fourth of the 3DS? I still honestly suspects that it'll decrease (the handheldmarket), however, I think the 3DS succesor will sell not too much less than the 3ds since they'll also get the little niche that Sony has with the Vita which will, believe it or not, negate a bit of the loss ninty will experience (sales wise).
the only thing here that's directed at you dengle is the first question
The rest is just me thinking out loud.

He said "I expect it to suffer the same fate as the Vita," which I interpreted as similar sales, and he did not correct me.
