Fucking pathetic... Nintendo is still way too caught up in doing their thing, even if it's blatantly obvious that's it's wrong or outdated. That's why they're in

Hindsight is 20-20. Here is the thing Nintendo was never going to compete with Sony and Ms because they are not big enough to do so. So it was inevitable that things were going to end up this way. All thats left is for them to figure out there own market, which time will tell. If they dont then they dont. But trying to bankrupt the company by keeping up a bidding war with MS and Sony is certain death.

lolwut? You do realise they have more money than the Xbox and Playstation divisions right? All they had to do was maintain their position as #1 in the industry and they couldn't even do that.

Theh cannot even pay for a few big ones like CoD and GTA? Makes no sense.

Who would that ultimately benefit seeing as MS themselves had to shell out 50 million just for dlc of gta 4. Imagine the asking price for nintendo who has a less interested userbase and who rockstar north has a terrible working history with. Then you would have to factor in. the extra advertising it would ultimately need snce 2k will not pay for it. All for what? A most likely rushed or delayed version that wont be unique in any meaning way. Not to mention that would take away from your in house development budgets... not a wise decision. Would be cool though to see and hd version of china town wars with the top down perspective on the pad and the third person on the tv.

Lol this is interesting because the way they got to be number one was by not doing what their competitors were doing...

And yes I am aware that they PREVIOUS were making more than the playstation and xbox divisions, however as this gen shows that can change with one flailing product.

Not exactly surprising, when they leave out features and then sell it at the same price as the other versions.

Can you name a big budget 3rd party title that released on a Nintendo system, was released at the same time as other systems with all of the same features, was advertised equally with the other versions, and still struggled (semi-relative to install base)?

Rayman Legends

Wii U version was one of the best-selling version of the game, despite being the system with the smallest install base. Also, "big budget" is a bit of a stretch in that case. Try again.

They paid for Monster Hunter. That's a start.

They don't have more $$$ than Microsoft. The $2.5b Minecraft deal shows this. They tried to monetarily compete with Sony in the 6th gen with games like Resident Evil, Baten Kaitos, MGS Twin Snakes, Tales of Symphonia, etc and got whooped. The most they can probably do is get multiplats.

Sony and Microsoft don't have to pay a dime for the vast majority of 3rd party games either, save for the exclusive or timed-exclusive content.

That's every single big release so far in one way or another. Destiny? Advertising parternship (Sony pays $$$), W_D? Same thing. CoD? Advertising partnership (this time M$ pays the $$$). AssCreed? Same thing. The only games exempt from this are small budget release (which are next to nonexistant), Shadows of Mordor, and 1st party exclusives.

M$ and Sony are in a pissing contest over 3rd party titles, where the piss is streams of millions of dollars in advertising rights.

^ love that post.

Never going to compete? they sure tried. They tried with N64, with GC and now with Wii U. When you say you want casuals and core gamers. You are going for PS and xbox customers. Now they failed of course, but it is what it is.
