Captain Toad releasing without Amiibo support, they should have delayed it.
Things will begin to get confusing with these figurines.

Not really, it will prolong the life of the game imo. Look at mk8 though it needs no help, the dlc will keep the life on the game wiith new content. Same could be said for amiibos support but then again it depends on wat the amiibos do for the game!

Now they have three games to update and market down the line next year: MK8, SSB3DS, and CT.

Will they do it all together, or separate them? SSB3DS amiibos with the New 3DS?

This multiple game compatibility seems like an afterthought.

It wasn't based on nothing, it was based on retailer listings that thankfully seem to have been incorrect.

Retailer listings aren't nothing. They have tipped us off to delays before, like with Tropical Freeze.
