My logic stands up very well and would even better if you stop assuming that i dont already know stuff like "Games will look better at the end of gens etc" But i was already expecting you to say something like that, and this isnt the PS3 vs X360 unless your calling the PS4 the 360 and the X1 the PS3 since this time its the MS hardware thats harder to program for..
But Like you said look to lastgen for all the PS3's power did it "Really" gain that big of a jump over the X360??, I also understand end of gen games look much better then 1st gen games, But that works both ways and as long as Sony keeps using that extra power to keep the PS4 version res of games above the X1 versions dont expect to notice that 40-50% power difference and if you do best be ready to be let down .

Clearly you weren't factoring the reality of games looking better over time, into your equation, since you insinuated that the vast majority of SDK refinement occurs in the 1st year. Claiming you knew I'd say that, doesn't make you any less wrong.
As far as generational comparisons, that's doable, but not as cookie cutter as you'd like to think, since the PS4 is more a combination of the PS3 (more powerful) and the 360 (easier to program for), which is why the gap will only get bigger over time. The PS3 was marginally more powerful (the difference between the PS4/One is bigger), but it was a nightmare to program for, which is why it took years for PS3 games to match their 360 counterparts. And it's not just resolution, mind you, the PC settings comparison chart on the first page, shows there's more than just resolution that's effected.
The Cell was a beast of a CPU, but nobody really had worked on that type of programming in ages, and certainly not for gaming. So, big gamble by Sony, and they paid dearly for it early on and over the long haul, though the positive takeaway is they realized and learned from many of those mistakes and directly applied them to the PS4's architecture. Can't imagine why MS wasn't equally cautious, but, you can bet your ass next gen they'll take a different approach.
