They used... the devs said they used the addction 10% from Kinect to improve framerate on the game.

There is no magic... the gap will widen because the PS4 have more power to spare... it is physical and can't be changed.

Best to just let them 'think' that a 40%+ power differential won't ever amount to anything. Especially when they consider that the XB1 will improve over time, and the PS4 will just stand still. (See what I did there hah)
@Zero - Level of power won't change, the SDK however, will be refined. You cannot increase or decrease the level of power in static hardware. (PS4 won't gain in power either, the SDK will be improved over time, which should (and already is) a noticeable gap in performance. However, I'd imagine only first party studios will really show the actual differences, since 3rd parties are more inclined towards parity, to avoid backlash from consumers and Microsoft.
| zero129 said: I know that hardware power cant change and thats why its stupid for Sony fans to believe this gap is going to somehow grow!. yes SDK's can be refined and games can be optimised but still they cant make Hardware more powerful! and it works both ways! In other words the gap wont grow or shrink it will stay the same... And yes i do see what you done there yet it was pointless as you backed up what i was saying with what you said... |
Actually, no, you're missing the point. The situation is the PS4 has a much higher ceiling, long-term, than the XB1, due to it's ~40% differential. The XB1 will improve over time, absolutely, every electronic device dependant upon human software follows this tack. However, the PS4 will also, and they have more to work with, so yes, the gap should increase, up to a point, however, as I said, that's really going to depend on whether developers want to deal with the hassle of explaining to Microsoft and their fans, why a game looks noticeably better on the PS4, which we already know developers are voluntarily attempting to avoid. So, as I said, the real differences should be apparent with the evolution of the 1st party SDK's.

Wouldn't you play multiplats on 360 though? They are almost always better even to today (Destiny for example). I can understand if you don't own both, but that was my reason for owning a 360. I thought the exclusives sucked on 360, but otherwise it was a superb console (ignoring rrod). I loved the OG Xbox exclusives and the system. X1 I feel is their worst effort compared to the competition, but I'm willing to give Phil Spencer the benefit of the doubt and blame Mattrick for the issues I have with it. Phil took over less than a year ago, and it will take time to see the results of his new plans. I expect a great showing at e3 2015, as we should see the fruits of his new directives. He can't fix the console design, but he can still be a general that leads it to a better state for Xbox fans and gamers at large. I
I think going back to having tons of AA exclusives like the OG days is far better than a handful of tired IPs run into the ground as AAA budget muck. I'd be okay never seeing another Halo, Gears, or Fable ever again.

I think its the same way Console fans dont like when PC gamers talk about having the "Better" versions ya know they seem to think us PC gamers just look at the Graphics all day and dont play the games to have fun! xD . |
With the ridiculous money some PC gamers spend on their rigs I'm pretty sure they are obsessed with the graphics even if they're not that much better than a top end console game. There was a guy on here the other day looking to spend $2500 on his setup. I mean WTF obviously playing the game for fun isn't enough for him! A lot of PC gamers are like that and they waste a serious amount of money considering most games won't even come close to maxing their PC out.
I have no idea what XO version looked like before the patch, but I can say they both look great. With that said, PS4 does have better overall IQ that's easier to see for us who keep this stuff in mind. Of course this is what a third party accomplished, the gap is wider when we see what 1st party does for each console.

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)
I have inspected enough graphics cards to know that better specs produce better results. I really don't know what people are expecting. This makes me sad that something as fundemental as math is still being disputed.
