It's difficult to evaluate without having to play the game, and it's still in its alpha development stage. I'm mixed about the new "Rage Arts". They look visually eye-popping, but they could just be a "Get Out Jail Free Card" for beginner players and seem out of place for a three-dimensional fighting game. I'm glad bound isn't in this game, but apparently many people like bound and are saddened by its omission in Tekken 7. I don't know, I always thought they lead to some annoying juggles. I'm not fond of the new characters, Katarina looks generic and Claudio seemed to be ripped out of a concept art for an excluded character from Final Fantasy XIII. What irks me the most is that they're rehashing the same character designs from previous installments. This is just evident of the lack of inspiration and creativity in Tekken 7, why can't they just alter their iconic attire and costumes like they did in Tekken 4 (which had the best character desigins in the series in my opinion)?
If can I can briefly summerize my impressions on Tekken 7, it's that it's underwhelming but not bad. For now, I'm more looking forward to Mortal Kombat X. Not only does are they altering the character's iconic appearance, but it's actually striving to make logical changes to overhaul the traditional gameplay formula. Whereas Tekken 7 is playing it safe and seems to be desperately drawing in a casual audience.
