Forums - Gaming Discussion - Does Shadow of Mordor Run at 720p/30fps on Xbox One?

Isn't this a cross gen game? No way those numbers are possible.

Makes me wonder, as the gen goes on, the difference is gonna grow or stay at the same level. People are complaining about lazy devs, but maybe it's the contrary - the devs are starting to master the consoles and are capable of taking full advantage of the extra horsepower PS4 has?

This could be but looking at the game it is quite hard to see where there is power used on PS4 and why Xbox One shouldn't be able to render the same graphics.

Just found the size of both games and it looks like both are 28gb so assets should be exactly the same.

No way on earth it's 720p 30fps while PS4 is 1080 at 60 unlocked. My bet is 900p or thereabouts 60fps unlocked. PS4 is more powerful, but not that much more.
If 720 30 is true then I think lazy dev is a legit accusation.

There is another option...

PS4 was being subutilized due the start of the generation and it have more "power" to spare... I and others guys said that the gap in performance will be widen because devs are not using the full potential of PS4 yet while they are optimizing a hell of the code on Xbone to close the gap.

The hardware gap is bigger than the gap showed until now in games... the situation will get worst in my view in the last years of this gen.

This.

The gap is just like ps2/Xbox : most of the games were the same, but sometimes, a game could use all the extra power of the Xbox ans the différence was big

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

What does assets have to do with render output?

Anyway, what type of renderer does the SoM-engine use? If it's a multipass deferred render, then ESRAM could very well be the bottleneck. At least it's speculated to be in the case of the Fox Engine.

Nothing, of course. But gives us a hint that both use other assets than the last gen versions.

But the disparity isn't that significant.

PS4 has a performance edge over X1. Hence, X1 can do the same graphics but the frame rate struggles under the same conditions.

OG Xbox was just another level from PS2. Xbox had graphics capabilities PS2 wasn't even designed to do along with superior performance. Xbox was a beast.

i could see it being 900p 30fps and the ps4 version 1080p with unlocked 30 (30-60)

Apparently a belgium team received a press kit and confirm the 720p and 30fps for Shadow of Mordor
