Forums - Gaming - Does Shadow of Mordor Run at 720p/30fps on Xbox One?

Not surprising to see the PS4 version with a higher resolution and even more polish.

Still not as significant as the original 720p/30fps and 1080p/60fps people were actually anticipating.

While this is true, the fact that they had to scale back the settings beyond just resolution to hit 900p is telling.

It's possible that in order to run the same settings it would have been 720p or 792p vs. 1080p. No bueno. And we have no idea how much spare power is available beyond the 30fps lock on PS4. But to be fair, considering that vegetation and something else on PS4 is further turned down from PC 'ultra' also presumably means that the PS4 didn't have enough left in the tank to hit 60fps. Maybe they saw 40-50 and were like '30 lock it is'.

Or maybe they need to improve optimization.

In under year the X1 has seen improved resolutions, performance, and visuals. Hence, developers are still learning the hardware and MS is still making the console easier to work with.

Yes, but in what kind of games? Have any of the ones with 'improved' visuals looked like something particularly demanding?

I am thinking that the eventual death of cross gen will expose the X1 fairly poorly overall. But if the library of exclusives gets good enough, it should still do alright in the US.

What kind of games? Various games. I'd say more recent games appear to be more visually demanding than older X1 games.

I mean a game like Destiny is a very demanding game. Large open areas, lots of enemies, polished graphics, etc. Yet it still maintains 1080p and virtually locked 30 fps. That seemed like a pipe dream from the Xbox 720p. It can only get better down the road.

Look at Metro Redux. That aren't simple a 7th gen ports, those games were built to take advantage of gaming PCs. The X1 version maintains 912p/60 fps. Launch window shooters on X1 seemed to struggle for 60fps at lower resolutions.

i play both games (on my ps4 and by my friend xboxone) and yes, ps4 is really better. beautiful graphic and details.

i think... its funny. the new dragon age, pro evolution soccer 15, metal gear solid 5 and shadow of mordor have 1080p on ps4, but not on xboxone. XD
