Never like hearing when devs say how long a game takes, cause then you know that it is like half that.
So expect to beat the game in like 20-25 hours.

It is hard to believe that they are not going to be making sequels to XV. When the time come I'm sure it going to be a"company decision" too.

For other people it is obviously different but for me FF 8 & 9 took at least 80 hours. |
Yeah because you dont just do the story shit, you explore and enjoy the game. The 40 hours he says I pressume is driving from point A to point B to do all the story missions. I would like to think going on foot into a cave completely unrelated to the story but to get stronger gear adds many more hours to the game.

Gameplay doesnt worry me at all really, looks good. Its having that extra content that worries me, or implementing it well. FFXIII from my expirience had 0 extra content. I know it was their because my bro did it but it was just so poorly added I didnt notice it. FFXII is possibly the best way its ever been implemented with the Hunters Guild, something similar would be nice. |
Agreed a Hunter Guild would benefit this game a lot. In fact I think JRPG's would benefit a lot if they took more elements from FF XII, that game was awesome.

If I remember right they said FF13 would take around 60 hours on average, and it did for many people. I haven't finished it myself but I've played 45 hours and still has quite a long way to go. And it dragged on for too long, especially before it opened up.
So 40 hours for the main story in FF15 sounds perfectly right to me. Not too long (but I hope those 40 hours is better than the first 40 hours of FF13).
Yep.

Well if it is 40 hours for just the main story then that would be fine. As long as there is extra stuff to do, and more importantly, the extra stuff is actually fun (so not like FF 13). |
You have also to remember XV is an action RPG so the battles should take a significantly less time, as you don't wait for gauge or a timer to perform an action. Also, older FF games are text heavy, It took to much time to read through everything.
40 hours of pure content for an aRPG is impressive..
Well that's good. Also, it sounds like they're confident in their demo, also a good sign. I'm remaining skeptical however, until the game comes out.

You know, the amount of 'lost' dialog due to the fact voices existed in FF is become more obvious. Out of cutscenes there was very little in the way of text boxes in 13 for example, so while the main characters cried and acted as though they were all angsty teenagers in cut scenes you didn't get the same learning curve as previous games (especially without a protagonist who didn't know anything (like Cloud, Zidane, Tidus and Vann), in other games, you got detailed explanation of something in a few dialog boxes as well as reactions to it by characters.
Also, no quirky comedy as it doesn't work with spoken English.
Hmm, pie.

How long a game is versus how long you take to beat it are 2 very different. The only FInal fantasy to take me longer then 60hours was XII and thats because I spent a ton of time doing hunts.
Also those older games length were drawn out but mountains of text to read through and random encounters.
I'm okay with no part 2, I'm more interested in a PC release TBH since porting shouldn't be as hard these days.
