Forums - Gaming - Destiny Is a Different Game After 20 Hours, Bungie Says

Been loving it since the first minute. It just sorta changes at the 15-20 hour mark when your level 20, things get much harder, some events have certain damages boosted considerably, coordination is a must. I cant wait to get into the raid.

getting all my gear to be tip top is going to take alot of time, but then again what fps doesnt? it might be mmo but it is also still a FPS.

I am Torgo, I take care of the place while the master is away.

"Hes the clown that makes the dark side fun.. Torgo!"

Ha.. i won my bet, but i wasnt around to gloat because im on a better forum!  See ya guys on Viz

Well, I'm having fun with the game so far and it didn't take 20 hours of game play. I rarely play the story part of a game but I find myself engulfed in it with Destiny. So, I guess that's all that matters.

As a hardcore RPG fan who's put about close to 50 hours into the game already (few points from lvl26), I gotta admit it has some flaws. Like how loot needs to be handled better. Some farming exploits here and there and the PVP skill curve being tough for beginner FPSers (not me, my friends which hate the PVP part so I can't convince em to go with me, and I hate PVP pugging), especially vs hardened the CoD/BF crowd. Strikes DO get repetitive but it's like ppl don't know this is an MMO. The grind for gear IS part of the fun.

Gear needs to be given more "personality" other than the exotics. Maybe add in a space combat segment or at least abilities like orbital bombardment or supply drop that you can get by modding your ships (let us customize our ships dammit!) so that ships are a bit more than just aesthetics. And so much other stuff I can think of to improve the MMORPGish aspect of the gameplay.

I feel like the game had whole features cut out for future DLC and that the publisher only allowed them to release a bare-bones version of it.

Saying that, I feel that the game has ENORMOUS potential. And that the gameplay is both fun and smooth. I'm overseas running a 3mbps connection that lags when I refresh facebook but I get almost zero lag in the game. The gunplay feels intuitive. The abilities are subtle but actually make you rethink your gameplay style rather than just "add X damage) and so quite fun to tweak and experiment with. Overall, the game is flawed but fun. The sad thing is that due to the hype, too many people are hard at work just looking for the flaws.

No, it is the same few things over and over.

The same thing applies to your comments. :)

The truth ;)

Over and over.  No BS from me.

'Endgame content' in Destiny is the same content you already played only enemies have more health.  That is it.

Endgame content for destiny isn't even playable yet. Unless you're lvl 28....

Wait, you're not talking about the strikes are you?

That's like saying that the 5man heroics in WoW are endgame... You'd be technically, by definition, right (content available only at level cap) but that'd miss the point entirely....

Yup, 20+ hours in and I don't see an end in sight. Super fun game though I feel people who are underwhelmed probably skew towards those doing solo play. Solo is pretty boring, having a 3 man fireteam with friends is super fun

100% true, people need to give this game a chance before saying game is shit, destiny is an awesome game, just remember to play it with friends, it was designed that way lol!

Add me if u want :)

I guess this is one aspect reviews don't see, as an MMO it's about after completing the story.

In Destiny's case it becomes Tekken.

Hmm, pie.

Sorry, the game looks great, it plays great, but I can not do the same menial missions for 20hrs just to get a difficulty spike.

Strikes sounds fun, but I'm not playing through 20hrs of shit to get it.

This reminds me of FFXIII when people keep saying that the game suddenly becomes the best thing ever after a certain amount of time! xD

I need to add more:

- they think people will have 'created a community with other players'? Uhhhhh...how? We can't talk to other people. We can use emotes in random places, and that's about it. The market area is filled with people...that you can't talk to, while the battle zones are void of other players. The game honestly feels very lonely.

Crazy thing is you can't even talk to your own teammates in multiplayer. What kind of community is that?

LOL really? What the fuck. The social elements of Destiny just make no sense at all.
