Forums - Nintendo - Xenoblade Chronicles is a Game-Changer for Nintendo

My point asserted. This game didn't sell well, so its affect on the wiiU will be minimal. Now I don't care if it suprassed expectations, it's not a game changer. You come in defending its low sales. You're defending the OP.  I haven't read every comment on this thread. I don't know what else you've been saying on here.

I am not defending "low sales" I am defending "didn't sell well" because those are two different things. A game sells "well" depending on investment, a game sells low depending on a number. I am fine with saying it sold low, I am not fine with saying it didn't sell well. It sold well, it didn't sell high.

As per the rest, a thread is made of a discussion so...

I like Shulk. I'm looking forward to playing as him. My profile pic should tell you the rest.

No single game will ever be a game changer for Nintendo, but this will be a step in a good direction. They need games like Xenoblade and Bayo 2 to change their stigma. But it will require many more games like this and I hope they realize this and won't abandon this project after the first few unavoidable flops. It takes time, investment and a lot of marketing to make a shift as big as Nintendo needs. They dug themselves a massive hole with the Wii and now have to get out of it.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

I doubt there will be a western release, Nintendo does not have the resources to translate it since the whole NoE translation team responsible for translating JRPGs including Dragon Quest and Xenoblade got fired.

This is a serious problem, even for the translation of Xenoblade X.

Even though the Nintendo Treehouse showed this game off at e3? Yeah, seems legit.

The writer oblivious thinks that Nintendo only makes Marios and Zeldas. Every company will "rehash" a game if it's popular. Sonic is "rehashed", Crash was "rehashed" when he was stills owned by Sony.

I think this last generation taught a lot of developers to bring their JRPG's West. Xenoblade sold so well in the west Nintendo had--at great reluctance--to make a second run. But that wasn't the only JRPG to find a surprise market in North America last gen; Sony called not bringing Demon's Souls west one of their worst mistakes of the generation; it had to be brought west by Namco Bandai, and that partnership eventually put Dark Souls out on the 360. You know that Bloodborne has its sights firmly on the NA market after that.

I expect Japanese developers have now learned the truth; most gamers play for RPGs, even in North America where shooters are "the" thing. Microsoft provides the worst exclusive RPGs in the business.

Ugh. Do we have to act like everything has to be some sort of major event? It's not a game changer. It will be a really really good JRPG.

Once again, we're talking about the customer base it had. A very small audience. I'm not instulting the game's sales or it's quality, I'm saying that it won't be a game changer for nintendo, which it won't.

Oh, we're talking about Consumber Base? Oh, I thought we were talking about Sales. Because that's a whole different level.

Yep, 100M potential consumers, and less than 1% went for it.

By that excuse for logic, you must think 99% of all games flopped.

The fact stands that xenoblade sold very well, almost 1 million for a new ip with no advertising and limited print that sold out.

Xenoblade X is not a new ip and has much more global awareness + marketing. there's absolutely no logic in saying xeno x can't outsell the first game.
