I think this last generation taught a lot of developers to bring their JRPG's West. Xenoblade sold so well in the west Nintendo had--at great reluctance--to make a second run. But that wasn't the only JRPG to find a surprise market in North America last gen; Sony called not bringing Demon's Souls west one of their worst mistakes of the generation; it had to be brought west by Namco Bandai, and that partnership eventually put Dark Souls out on the 360. You know that Bloodborne has its sights firmly on the NA market after that.
I expect Japanese developers have now learned the truth; most gamers play for RPGs, even in North America where shooters are "the" thing. Microsoft provides the worst exclusive RPGs in the business.
