I think the general gist of this thread is, that if this game turns out to be spectacular, can it even win GOTY?

I don't think theres enough hype for it to happen, even if it is the best this year.

Bayonetta was an okay game at best. I still prefer Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden personally.

Neither of those have the trifecta of a big "M" (18) in the bottom-left of the boxart, a deep narrative for reviewers to spunk over, and a universally lauded and unassailed marketing campaign. This particular thing was never in the running. Being available only on a punching bag of a console doesn't help, either.

I understand that's your opinion but are you insane? The first was excellent. Definitely the best hack n slash thus far. Offers way more combo variables than others in the genre, not to mention the armstyle on the enemies is some of the best.

No way. God Of War series and even Platinum's own Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance are way better.

But, the first game has widely been considered the best of the genre for a while, so its easy to expect a sequal that rises to the occasion.

Western gamers are open to all kind of games, unlike Japanese gamers.

Also Bayonetta doesn't come close to being the best hack and slash game, that goes to God Of War III.
