If Gamestop or someone offers a decent trade-in deal toward one, then I'll gladly part with my launch day muffin-top model right away. If not, then I'm in no hurry until a game I really want comes along that can't be played on my Zelda XL.

I agree with this. However, I would eventually get it even if GameStop don't do a promotion.

Sadly, my muffin-top 3DS is no longer endearing, just gaudy.

I got the XL when it came out a couple years ago, and I like it just fine. I don't plan to upgrade. My XL works just fine for me, and I don't play it a whole lot anyway, so there's no need.

EDIT: They could have even done a take on the Kage no Tou / Lost in Shadow / A Shadow's Tale concept by using the front-facing camera, à la Tales in a Box. They could have done this when the DSi was a thing. But they didn't, because they are basically SHIT.

I'm definitely upgrading. I was planning to get a XL to play Mon Hun 4 ultimate next year, but I also needed that circle pad pro to play it properly, with the new 3ds I don't need the add on at all.

I never really got into portable systems, but I am starting to become a little more interested. They seem to actually have a larger variety of interesting titles than the consoles lately.  Where's the "buy me, maybe?" option?
