People hate because there worried there will be a stream of games not compatible with there current 3DS, because of all the extra features and CPU power. Its what i thought as soon as they announced it.

But there is no need to worry, bar Xenoblade i doubt we will see more than a handful of games if any that are exclusive to the new system because of the new features, as devs will not want to make a game for such a tiny install base.

People are frustrated the system is a negligible improvement over the original 3DS so they have little reason to upgrade, and are fearing Nintendo will only release content compatible with the new system so they miss out on future games.

I think it also reflects the growing resentment of Nintendo's uninspiring hardware direction. It's beginning to feel like the hardware offers no purpose other than adding an additional fee to play Nintendo software, which would be better played on superior devices. The "NEW" 3DS really is the culmination of that philosophy.

Nintendo fans love hearing about the new 3DS like Street Fighter fans liked hearing about Turbo, Super, Ultra street fighter.

You're mistaken about the nature of this hardware (as are many people who have been voicing out against this hardware).  This hardware is NOT Nintendo's "next portable" (as nem put it).  Is it possible they might phase out the normal 3DS and 3DS XL?  Maybe, or maybe they'll offer them at reduced prices.  Who knows for sure what they will do in regards to that.  What we DO know, though, is that this is NOT replacing the regular 3DS as a means to play software.  Games that would be able to be played on regular 3DS' will still be made.  

Nintendo has very little reason to drop support for the regular 3DS and only go for making New 3DS games.  The New 3DS installed base will be much smaller than the regular 3DS.  Think about how they announced this hardware.  The only reason we know about it is because the gaming media tuned in to the Japanese stream and people have been trying to translate what they've said.  Nintendo themselves did NOT actually announce this to people outside of Japan.  Why, do you suppose, they would do that if it were going to have THAT much of an impact?  Because, while it is big news, it isn't "new console" big.  Also, along with the announcement of this hardware, they only announced one "exclusive" (if you could call it that).  If they were going to be that serious about it, they would have clearly dedicated way more resources to the announcement and potential development for this hardware.  More than one game would have been announced for it.  This hardware is a beefed up version of the 3DS meant to make the experience of using a 3DS more streamlined and, therefore, more desirable of a product (hoping to revitalize 3DS sales).  That's the true objective.  So to do that, they will NOT be alienating old 3DS users like so many people have been claiming.

I think actually more likely the "New 3DS" is the last of the DS/3DS line.

The next Nintendo portable IMO will probably have a different form factor, more like a tablet.

In a way the New 3DS is the ultimate refinement of 10 years or so from the launch of the original phat DS, lol.

i know your half joking. but my question is why couldnt the n3ds just been the original 3ds from the jump? or at least the 2nd refinement?

I don't see a problem with Nintendo releasing new hardware at all. Hell, the majority buy new technology every year... They're called Smart Phones and Tablets.

Apple and Samsung shell out new upgrades of smartphones and tablets every year, and people turn the cheek to them, but if Nintendo does it, it's a stab in the back to their fan base... And Nintendo waited 4 years to come out with a successor.

Competitors do it. Nintendo has new competition: The Mobile Market, If you don't like it, stop buying upgrades to your tablets and phones every year. It just a form of the old saying "Evolve or Die"!
