Video Games Crash of 2015. Calling it now.

Western developers yes. But not eastern, they still have integrity.

Currently the opposite seems far more likely. Western developers are far more ambitious than the Japanese (except Kojima Productions and Polyphony Digital).

Video game crash is already hapening in Japan, can't say the same for the West.

You mean ambitious like minecraft clones,  "8bit " clones and goat simulator clones and 60 dollar priced tech demos?
Only game worth mentioning is sid meier and witcher (which I don't think it's western). I don't think anything else releasing in the west is worth mentioning.

I actually grew up with Rareware games, that's why I hate Microsoft. They butchered freaking Perfect Dark. I also use Linux as my PC platform.

Have you tried viva pinata. I was addicted to that Games DEMO when I was younger. How about kameo how about anything they made recently? If the answer is no the be quiet

Eh not really.  That magic was very much there for me with Ni no Kuni, The Last of Us, and Xenoblade Chronicles.

We just need to go back to gamers making games instead of investors.

All three of those games had me simultaneously in tears and smiling not because of the stories but just because I was in heaven and so relieved to know that games , modern games, could still capture the magic I once experienced on SNES.

Proof that you CAN have state of the art graphics and a good game.  These games all made me feel like a 6 year old on Christmas morning just from how obvious it was the devs put their heart and souls into the game the moment you put the disc in.  Parts in the game you're supposed to be sad and crying I was HAPPY and crying because I was THRILLED the game was affecting me and making me sad like that. And the affirmation that my tastes have not changed in 20 years, but validation of the fact that yes, GAMES HAVE CHANGED FOR THE WORST, not me.

Beats the fuck out of "K/D bro!"

I am not saying we won´t have magical moments when we´re grown up (I have them myself atleast a few times per year), I am saying we most probably have less of them. And I don´t agree that games have changed for the worst. The percentage of crappy games have increased, yes, much in thanks to the indie scene and touchbased gaming. The number of actually great games are huge though, probably alot bigger than ever before. Thing is though, the amount of games produced each year today is so insanely higher than just 10 years ago.

Compared to what? Japanese games are only "crashing" when compared to CoD sales.  Wii U could be selling more than SNES or NES ever did but because oh no its not surpassing Call of Halo 15 3/4 it's a failure?

Japanese games are doing as well or better than they ever have.  Ni no Kuni 1 million +.  Bravely Default? Smashed it.

The difference is now everybody compares everything to Call of Horseshit and deems it a failure if it's not 10 million sold in 1 minute.  Japanese still develop for their core niche audience and haven't sold out to the casual mainstream.

I remind again the most universally revered games of all time like Chrono Trigger , Final Fantasy VI, Link to the Past (?) Never broke 1 million on their original release yet were critical successes that made their developers what they are today.

Gaming was and is still niche.  This Call of Duty and Angry Birds nonsense is a FLUKE, a mainstream fad, and the sooner people understand that and stop chasing $$$ the better we will all be.  Can we get back to profitable successful 250k units awesome games?  Fuck Call of Duty and Halo players.  Namco doesn't make excuses when Tales sells under 500k, no, it's a success and they make more.  What's your excuse for Final Fantasy not being profitable under 1 billion units, Square? Huh?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Batman: Arkham Knight, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, The Order: 1886, Evolve, Halo 5: Guardians and No Man's Sky vs Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Bloodborne.

I know which ones I'm more excited for overall.

There are a far bigger and better variety of western titles other than Call Of Duty. I never even mentioned that game lol.

If selling 1 million+ is a big deal, then all western games pretty much are doing well, or rather very well.

Of all those Japanes games you listed, none intrigue me, like they don't excite many others like me. Western games are the main reason gaming is fairly mainstream, you should be glad that western developers and consumers exist. Otherwise gaming would have completely been an iOS thing by now.

It's called growing up . Seriously though, I was the same as you and I'm pretty sure many others were too when they were kids. Kids can easily get excited.

Speak for yourself! I still get all giddy whenever I get a new game! :P

Nope. Playing games on cell phones is about as mainstream as it gets.

Without western FPS PC infestation mainstreaming games we'd have consoles still sold in the toy department and be socially shunned as something only kids play and we'd have awesome games again instead of a billion realistic military shooters and sports games.

Gaming is too cool for its own good now. Having a $500 console is a status symbol now and gaming is just too cool for its own good now.
